Until his hearing ability diminished for a second, hearing a faint sound of bodies landing on the floor just few meters away from him. His sight is blurring and his body only felt pain. What did he do to receive this torture? What did he do? And why?

That was when he realized that there was neither rod nor whip landed on his face and back. The armed guys disappeared and when his visions came back, he saw a hand…

“You’re safe, Xing. Let’s go before someone comes again,” the boy said in rapid pace as he held him up.

And then they were already running…

On the far outskirt of the city, where everyone thought it was deserted because of the danger it held, there is a community hidden carefully inside the acres wood, tall trees surrounding it. And within that community, there is a leader of whom people didn’t know has his own secrets of dispute.

There is something behind the purpose of this place. It was first a camp of rebels but citizens that got fed up of the tyranny of The Government fled in this camp when they learned about it. A series of events happened where it had become a community then. And Kris, or so he is called, is the leader. It took him four years to build it, to reinforce it. Now it had come to this, it was time to continue his plan of vengeance against The Government.

That late evening in his office, Kris was busily writing on his journal when suddenly, someone knocked. He spoke in a low voice and told the other to come in.

“Duizhang, someone’s here for you,” a tall male says out as he entered the office.

“Who,” Kris asks back.

“Luhan.”

Kris raises his brows and closed his journal, locking it in one of his drawers. He settles back on his seat and nodded. Zitao opened the door widely for the said person to come in.

“I thought it was only Luhan?” Kris asks skeptically when Luhan entered with another man, arm linked around Luhan’s shoulder for support. Kris eyed the man, or boy, and based from the look, he was just treated from bad injuries and wounds. Zitao only shrugged and excused himself out.

Luhan didn’t talk also and just entered without hesitation. He seated himself and the guy he was with on the couch across Kris’ desk.

“He wants to be part of the group, Kris. He has reasons also, like us.” Luhan finally spoke and Kris remained uninterested. “What reasons? You think he’ll be that physically helpful to us though?” the leader asked with an indifferent tone.

Luhan sighed and eyed his companion, who was deliberately having an intimidating staring session with the blonde across them. Luhan then tried talking, “He’s Zhang Yixi-“

“I’m sure he could introduce himself, am I right?” Kris cut him off and Luhan clicked his tongue in annoyance. “Asshole,” Luhan whispered but Kris just ignored him as he continued looking at Yixing.

“My name’s Zhang Yixing. I am not that weak if you are thinking that,” the man started and Kris smiled. “Are you smart though?” Kris asks, eyes flickering in interest.

“I know enough to get by and survive,” Yixing answers with a smile also.

Kris nodded and then finally leaned his elbows on his desk, chin resting on the back of his linked hands. “So what is your past, Zhang Yixing, that Luhan here introduced you to me?”

Yixing held his head up, and answered, “My father worked for The Government, and one day, officials invaded our home and abducted me. I didn’t know what happened and I just found myself in a white room, or should I say prison cell, being tortured for a reason I didn’t know.”

Paused, Kris’ eyes narrowed as he waited for Yixing to continue.

“And then,” Yixing goes on, “After few days of torture, an authorized person spoke to me. Asking where my father’s concealed plans is, claiming that my father has started a terrorist act towards The Government they couldn’t juice out from him before they killed him. I didn’t know anything, and so they persecuted me again. That was when Luhan saved me and explained about this place of yours… telling me about its purpose for existing.”

“And what did you tell him, Luhan?” Kris turns to the addressed guy and the latter just shrugged, “I told him we’re terrorists? Or rebels… doesn’t matter, I only said that this community was built because we don’t want to live by the brutal rules of The Government anymore.”

“And that my… family members are already dead, executed for a crime my father had committed.” Yixing ends and Kris turns his gaze back at him, “I don’t see any grief in you.”

Yixing chuckled bitterly before saying, “I had long forgotten that word before I entered your office, Kris. Knowing I don’t want to appear weak in your eyes so I could have your approval.”

Kris didn’t speak - face unreadable while Luhan remained silent also. Yixing was just looking at Kris, completely wondering how this young man could lead such community, needed to say it was a community of… terrorists. After he was saved from that prison, Yixing at first didn’t speak as he was mortified by the truth Luhan had told him - that his father and family had been executed for denying of the crime subjected to his father who is a head of one of The Government’s security department. After his coherent thought came back, he interrogated Luhan on how did he find him and why does he knows such things. It came to the time that Luhan explained himself as one of EXO’s spy; a name given to the group of people specialized for the offense tactics of the community. He had been living down the city for four years and those years Yixing didn’t quite believe he’s been best buds with a terrorist.

Until, of course, when Luhan noticed the days he’d been missing and the former explained his self to have searched for him through the hacked surveillance system from The Government, saving him from death. Yixing was suspicious about Luhan when he learned about the latter’s real identity, but Luhan vowed he never knew of any conspiracies or frame ups for his father connecting from the community, saying that they’ve been living a quiet life for now instead of starting a war. Meaning, The Government has been cautious of the things around it that they doubt even their own trusted officials now. Luhan then asked if Yixing wants to join him, earning a yes after seeing the grief and revenge Yixing wanted to do.

Learning how far The Government had gone, Yixing had decided to refuse to live the false life it’s giving its citizens.

“If that rotten government is growing too cautious, we need to make a move now,” Kris suddenly said and was looking at Luhan then. “And paranoia around them is what I love hearing,” Kris smiles crookedly as he said those words.

“You need to train your little friend there now, Luhan. If you guys want to live down the incoming fight of our lives,” Kris gives a friendly smile that gave a mischievous facade.

Yixing didn’t move a muscle and asked, “That’s it? You’re letting me in?”

Kris only stared amusedly at him, “Why? Do you want to prove your loyalty to me in bed?”

Yixing widens his eyes in disbelief as Kris laughed it off, “I didn’t mean it. Lighten up, will you?”

“Perverted asshole. Come on now, Xing,” Luhan stands up and Yixing also followed suit.

“I would know something’s wrong in the first place so knock yourself out, Zhang Yixing,” Kris finalized as he waved his hand for them to go. Luhan rolled his eyes at him before dragging Yixing out his office. Came after them was Jongdae, Kris right hand man, entering.

“Are you going to continue the plan?” Jongdae said first which made Kris sigh, “Yes, I will.” He answered and Jongdae only nodded.
