So, after
panic_channel's
video tutorial I thought I'd do my own.
I'll be showing how I put in my extensions... because everyone is always asking. Chances are I'm not doing it "properly" or whatever but this is how it works for me, so don't bother criticizing :\
I've left the videos pretty much untouched and in normal time so you can see how long it takes. I find clip in extensions are the easiest for me because it only takes 5 minutes every day and I can change the colours incredibly easily. They are probably a good idea for anyone that has a tough job/school where they cannot have extreme haircolours.
(P.S sorry for the noise about cars, I was watching Top Gear and couldn't be bothered to get rid of the sound so.... just don't listen with sound if you want)
1. Using a hairbrush or comb, brush quite a large chunk of hair from the top of your head to the other side, making a (it doesn't have to be perfect) straightish parting just above your ear. The idea is to continue this parting the whole way around your head and it's easier if you have some shorter layers of hair on top, then you pretty much have a guideline.
2. To keep your hair up and away from where you will clip in the extensions the easiest thing I've found is to clip the hair up at the front, although you can probably find the best way for you.
3. Run your hands (or use a mirror if you want to be anal) around your new parting to make sure it is basically straight.
I have small bits of yellow and orange that I'm using at the moment, and that piece of yellow I wanted to put underneath the black, so just ignore it.
4. When I take off my extensions I don't really bother separating them out (unless they need brushing/washing/re-styling), which makes it easier to put them back in as they are pretty much in a bunch. If that makes sense. Separate the hair into halves and put them around your shoulders.
5. Pick up the first layer of hair and attach the clips to the bottom part of your hair. It's best to line up the hair first making sure that the clips on each end are pretty much level. Remember this first layer of hair will be below the others, so leave enough space!
6. Add any other layers the same way.
7. Unclip your hair and brush it down how you want it to fall (it should pretty much go back into place naturally).
8. Backcomb the roots of your own hair (or backcomb the whole lot of you want huge hair) to make it seem more natural.
9. Destroy the o-zone, i.e. hairspray slightly to keep it all in place.
I have to go out to dinner with Adam and his boss and workmates tonight. Last time they spent £150 on alcohol alone... wish me luck.
