you got me begging you for mercy...

I find myself being really pissed off after an episode of Grey's Anatomy these days.

I was on a high from last season's finale. One: April finally admitted her feelings to Jackson, her fiance, and to anyone else who cared to notice. Two: Meredith and Derek are complete.

I'm beginning to feel I was wrong about my initial excitement considering how plot and character development went after the middle of season 9. Let's talk about a few examples here centering around Jackson and April. In the premiere, we started from what was left off from last season which entails April pouring her heart out. As I think about it, that was the last time he looked at her with any sort of affection. After that, he became a cold-hearted bastard.

He was pissed. Let's acknowledge that right now. And from the POV of most of the viewers, he had every right to be. He thought she was toying with him and after all the crap they went through, I thought it was something she needed to hear. But not in the way he said it. Let's be honest, how many of you would honestly take that from someone? Even if you deserved it, or not, then be chummy the next day/week? I'd need a few to calm the hell down. "Some guy you banged in the bathroom?" What in the actual fuck? Seriously. She gave you her virginity and that was a big deal. All you can sum it up to, is that? At least April tried to counter, but in the end, she backed down. The gist of their confrontation then was that when ish gets real, she heads for the hills. At first, I thought he meant her and Matt, but there is some bitterness that he's holding onto when it comes to their past relationship. The pregnancy scare and the major miscommunication of its aftermath. I've read on FanForum that they don't think he's forgiven her yet...I'm inclined to agree.

The following episode, the preview led us to believe that things had gone back to normal, but it wasn't...not really.

Nope. Not at all.

There were a lot of similarities in this episode. I could compare this couple/non-couple to Cristina and Owen and their inability to touch each other for fear of what would happen next. They agreed that being apart would be best for them, and have attempted this several times. Their feelings are there for everyone to see. That's the difference between them and April and Jackson. Whatever is there, they acknowledge, while the pair in the photo cannot. For April, maybe things have gone back to normal. If she can't have him in the capacity she wants, she'll take whatever she can get. In her eyes, she still has her friend. On the flip side, Jackson can't seem to touch her. Maybe he's still pissed. Maybe he has decided it is best to draw a line or put up a wall, so she can't get in and hurt him again. I can't think of what the following scene means just yet though. Both of them walking away from each other with a smile. Acceptance, maybe? Definitely on her part though.

tv: grey's anatomy, season 10, pairing: april/jackson, discussion, episode 3
