[ Character's Name ] : Expatriate Darkleer
[ Character's Age ] : No idea
[ Series ] : Homestuck
[ Canon Point ] : Right after he's exiled by the Highbloods
[ History ] :
Steady Aim

[ Personality ] :
Unfortunately, most of the Ancestors in Homestuck are not gone into in-depth as far as characterization goes. Canonly, they are considered practically myths, after all, and myths are more focused on the story than the character involved. What traits that are focused on are few and almost shallow. That means, when it comes to trying to characterize the ancestors, a lot has to be inferred from their actions and the society they live in.

Due to paradox clone shenanigans, Darkleer no doubt has a lot of similarities with his descendent Equius Zahhak. There’s little doubt that they both share the same supertrollian strength and all the problems which would come with it. By his time in canon, it’s obvious that he’s managed to gain control of his abilities because he is able to successfully wield a bow and arrow, whereas Equius pretty much has broken hundreds of them. Taking the time to hone his strength and perfect his motor skills has probably given Darkleer a lot of patience and the ability to calm himself from things which would normally inspire another highblooded troll on a typical rage of destruction.

Considering his weapon of choice as the Executor, Darkleer was probably an Archeradicator. In Equius’ introduction, they are mentioned as being one of the most noble and proud groups of warriors in the Empire’s command. While that may just be Equius’ bias talking through the narrative, there’s also probably a chance that it’s true. This would mean that Darkleer probably has a fair bit of pride, especially considering his former profession. To be exiled from both them and the Empire he so desperately served probably is deeply painful for him and a source of shame and confusion.

The Signless’ rebellion seemed to gain weight from a number of things. One of the contributing factors seems to be the nature of the highbloods, which Darkleer would have been a part of. For the lower class to be so easily sparked to rebellion, their nature overall must have been very oppressive and arrogant. Therefore, it would be easy to assume that Darkleer also acts the part of an arrogant noble. After all, he is one of the few granted a title such as ‘Executor’ and not just anyone would have been in charge of overseeing the execution of the Signless himself. This means he must have had extremely high standing amongst even other bluebloods and Archeradicators.

However, there must be something in Darkleer that makes him different, because for whatever reason, he allowed the Disciple to escape with her life. No reason is ever given as to why he does something so clearly treasonous. I t might be because he sympathizes with the rebellion, or maybe he just felt an incredible amount of pity for the student closest to the Signless. Whatever it was, it shows that Darkleer has a much wider view of the world and its people.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
♐ Extremely skilled archer - Since Darkleer was chosen as the one to end Signless' life, it can be surmised that he was one of the best archers known at the time.

♐ Supertrollian strength - Being Equius' ancestor, Darkleer also possesses unbelievable physical strength which can allow him to punch through metal and rock with some ease. This also means he is rather tough to damage and can take one hell of a beating.

♐ Skilled with Technology/Biology - This is the troll who eventually makes Mindfang an extremely skilled robotic arm and knows enough about troll biology to make sure it fits to her body well enough. He kind of knows what he's doing.

♐ Void - Being related to the Heir of Void, Darkleer projects a kind of aura which tends to hide things from prying eyes. This means it is hard to find his exact location using psychic, technological, and various other means. This also possibly makes it hard to read his mind. His presence is just one big dark spot.

♌ Shame/Confusion - At his point in canon, Darkleer is extremely uncertain and conflicted with what he did regarding the Disciple and the whole rebellion thing in general. Bringing it up is a sore subject for him.

♌ Control - While Darkleer isn't in danger of breaking every little thing he touches, he isn't in complete control of his strength 24/7. Anything sufficiently surprising and unexpected can get lashed at.

♌ Honor - Surprisingly for a troll, Darkleer is very honorable. If he owes something to someone (like he owed Mindfang), then he will hold up his end of the bargain. This can make it easy on occasion to take advantage of him.

[ Other Important Facts ] :
This isn't explicitly stated as canon, but it is shown that Ancestors tend to carry what are referred to as Legendary Weapons. They are basically the ultimate state a weaponkind can reach. Considering his profession's status and his status as an Ancestor, it wouldn't be unheard of for Darkleer to have something like that in the bowkind specibus.

However, it's something that kind of falls into the territory of 'headcanon'. I'd like to carry it into the game, but if it's a no-no, then I'll refrain.

[ Sample ] :
Normally, it is a simple matter to go into a calm state in the evening. It is something he has been doing for sweeps now, just one of the many things he does which helps him control his immense strength. It is all about staying cam and relaxed so that he doesn't make the wrong move, of which there are many to make, and destroy something.

Yet ever since her, his evenings have been aggravating and tense.

Why did he do what he did? What was he thinking? Darkleer can't lie to himself completely, however. He knows why he did.

And it's frightening.

Sitting in the middle of his room with crossed legs, Darkleer grits his teeth together and runs a frustrated hand through his hair. Stoic and distant, that is what he was supposed to be. It's what he was. But the Signless up-heaved everything, didn't he? Nothing would be the same, he could tell that. But he could ignore the mutant rebel leader, couldn't he? It was his followers that had caused him this conflict of loyalties.

One frustrated and worried growl later, and then he realizes he's put his fist through the stone floor.

Well, fuck.

Not exactly to his surprise, Darkleer realizes that his day is, like all the ones before it, not going to be a good one.
