In an effort to not feel that I wasted my effort, I went out and bought another cake mix to try and make the cupcakes again. I had let the veggie oil sit out all night so it would be good and room temperature this time. As I was adding the mix, eggs, and oil together I noticed something else for the first time, on the back of the box ( Read more... )

Can't say I've ever done that. I may have you beat though... One time I tried to make a vanilla pudding from scratch. Because I am the "awesomest" at math, I thought that since it called for 1/8tsp. that I could just add 2-1/4 tsp. It took me 2 tries and then my mom explaining the genius of mathematics to me, to finally get it right. Now I just buy box mixes cause they are easier and very little math is involved... hmm.. box mixes are easier... that's interesting... Thanks for the laugh this morning.. How is the coffee mug holding up by the way?.. Amy

Y'all know I used to work as a baker, right? aim_and_ash October 27 2005, 12:42:43 UTC
My biggest "baff" as a baker was when I used vinegar instead of almond extract to make almond bars. We're talking an industrial size waste because I baked for Vienna coffee shop on campus. I had put them in the oven and then wondered why the hell it smelled so bad...

Mug update: I need to post a pic of it. It's still "screaming" every morning that I pour coffee into it, and slowly, day-by-day, the paper inside the plastic is staining, so I think the coffee's seeping in. Ew.
