yay for getting your own domain. that's wonderful sweety.
Anyway, i think is that all providers give you the ability to create subdomains with the way of creating an individual name, ie. ( insomniac.hybrid-genesis.com ) But it's a matter of how you set it up.. Another thing that you need to look for is that they should say you can add 'subdomains' NOT 'subdirectories'.. Because I think if you only can do subdirectories, that's what you will get.. domain.com/directory
What are you going to use this domain for sweety? and how much are you looking to spend and how much space/bandwith do you need? =)
I figured that if web design was something that I was serious about that I should have my own domain. Plus, I have a few clients now and they are looking for hosting so I figured it would work out well if I had my own domain to set them up on. That is why I am looking for a provider that will allow me to create subdomains with individual names.
Thanks so much for the info! I'll be sure not to get one that says "subdirectories". You are the best!
All my domains are hosted at Netrillium and I've been rather pleased with them. They have their quirks, but whenever I have a problem, I direct myself to their help desk and someone always replies within a couple of hours. They pretty much give you complete control over your site, which is obviously something you want. Prices aren't bad either. I also have my domain names registered with their company, since I always buy a year at a time, the domain name comes free.
I agree with the above comment. Activewebhosting sucks. :o)
Thanks Yani. I was actually looking at Netrillium more than the others because they seem to set things up the way I am wanting to. I noticed that my friend Caro uses them too and she has a few domains under them.
How did you go about getting the different domain names? Did you have to pay for them seperately? How easy is it to set up a new one if you want to host someone?

So far I have bought different hosting packages; by paying for a full year of hosting ahead of time, I got the domain name for free. But if you are planning on purchasing a reseller account so that you can manage multiple domains, to register each domain with them it's about $7 for a full year. Does that make sense? Since now I'm moving a couple of my sites to my new reseller domain, I'll only pay the $7 for the domain.

I haven't tried setting up an actual domain yet, but there is a completely separate user panel for this. It shouldn't be *too* hard. And I say a seperate panel because the domain also comes with a standard Cpanel to manage the actual site, which is quite handy.
Does this help? I'm at work and kinda rushing the answer. If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to help out! :o)
You can host people the way that I do... if you are thinking about a reseller though, those things are EXPENSIVE!! You are looking at no less than $30 a MONTH.... And the cheap ones that I do have offer very little space/bandwith. You would only be able to host small business sites, and nothing too big.
Now the ones who mentionned Nettrillium seem to have it good, but I heard horrible things about them myself.
But seriously, a total of $30 a YEAR for a fair amount of space, etc... now that would rock (and that's what I have on sw-destiny.net)
