For eight years now, I have been conflicted about my patriotism and love of the country where I was born. I've felt as though my faith in the United States of America as a fair and righteous world leader has been shaken, and rightly so. I was just profoundly moved, to see a black man accepting the nomination, and then giving a speech that was personal but sweeping in its scope, and hopeful. That's what all of this comes back to for me. My cynicism is blinking at the blossom of hope that's unfolded in my heart. Sounds cheesy, but I mean it.

Yeah. Me, too. But man - under all my hope and elation is utter terror. I just don't think i could take it if McCain won.

I worry too. I worry about the possibility of assassination, I worry about failure to win the general election...I don't hate McCain. I read his autobiography, and he's both smart and honorable. I just disagree with him on, oh, pretty much everything! If we have another four years of Republican leadership, I'll really struggle with it.
