"You steal my clothes!" "We have a barter system!"

So Kirsten and I went to Sherlock Holmes last night (which, by the way, was excellent, mostly because of the banter between Holmes and Watson) and when we were in town there was an unusual number of unicycles ( Read more... )

My mother bought it for me months ago. Nation was really interesting: more serious than Pratchett usually is, and I think that's why I liked it so much. Also, OMG Mau and Daphne. I will lend you Just Henry. Have you read Goodnight Mister Tom? It is by the same author. I sobbed my whole way through Goodnighht Mister Tom.

:D I look forward to it. I have lost my memory stick, but I can give you the Aladdin soundtrack.
Also, I am watching The Secret Garden and it is AMAZING. Baby!Andrew Knott is the most adorablest of all.

Ooh, I've heard rave reviews on Sherlock Holmes so far - must make an appt to see it asap!

LOL UNICYLING WORLD CHAMPS. Who knew such a thing existed? Or that Wellington would be bestowed the honour of hosting such an event?

"Like, are unicycles the new Miley Cyrus?"
Hehe.

I am the proud owner of a Penguins Classics Pride and Prejudice mug
OMGS I HATE YOU. I know the exact one you mean too, I saw it in Iko Iko and instantly coveted it! Me = SUPREMELY jealous! However, I'm vair pleased you had a lovely Christmas :D

It is very hilarious. I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy it, but I did.

Yeah, I didn't quite get it. But unicycling! Yay!

I love the mug. It is excellent. I am drinking many cups of tea.

Seriously, at the moment if there's any HINT of ANYONE doing ANY mothering in a book I'm reading, it gets thrown across the wall in screams of agony. NO MORE MOTHERSSSSSS.

Hahaha, I thought of you when I was reading it. The baby was just so unnecessary to the story.

Haha, I sometimes get something similar at my work. "I'm just looking for an idea of how much foam for a window seat would cost, could you tell me that?"

Well, sir or madam. I have personally seen orders for window seats anywhere from 3 feet to 9 feet long or longer, either in a rectangle or a trapezoid or some other weird shape, never mind the depth. And how thick did you want the foam? There is a large price difference between, say, one inch and four inches thick. Also, we have at least three qualities of foam that we use for that sort of thing, all at different price points. So I'm sorry but I cannot tell you how much foam for a window seat would cost until you give me a little more information.

Unicycling world championships! That's pretty awesome.

I really want to see Sherlock Holmes, people had said things that make it sound like it is right up my alley.

I feel sadly deprived of books this Christmas. I got one from my sister, the QI Book of General Ignorance, but it isn't a book you sit around on Boxing Day devouring, you know?

Then again we had David Norton over for dinner tonight, so we all had quite a nice time being English nerds during that.

Plus I do like rereading Heyer when I get the chance, which is what I have been doing.

I will go and see it with you! I enjoyed it that much.

I didn't get ANY books from my parents. I was like, WHAT WHAT WHAT? But, fortunately, my friends are excellent at buying me literature. I have to swap the book Caitlin got me, as I already own it. Lesson One: If it has Jane Austen in the title, I have probably been given it.

Aw, David Norton, how is he?

I really must read Georgette Heyer (scandalised gasp). Where do you recommend I start?

Yay, that is a great plan!

Ahaha, very true. Still, choosing your own book for Christmas is always fun.

He is quite well. He has a deadline for his next book, of two months, which is taking up his time (procrastinating mostly, he says). But yes, overall is well. We looked at pictures of his grandson and great-nephew :D

Oh boy oh boy oh boy I will bring you one to read. I just reread Frederica, which is hilarious and good, so I might bring that. These Old Shades was my first, also excellent.

Okay, I am free all next week. We should go on Tuesday and take advantage of cheap tickets :)

I think I will get the Stephen Fry talks about Oscar Wilde book because that is what Caitlin had as another option for me.

D'aww, David Norton. I miss the English department already.

:D YAY PLEASE DO.
