He drops the SFC in shock, staring at it on the floor, expression utterly horrified; no mask covers his face.
...
A shuddering breath. He...knows it's too late. But he has to try to find Billy. He has to, to hope that somehow the boy got lucky, just maybe--
...And he has to find Saya.
But for the moment...he's paralyzed, too horrified to pick up that SFC off the floor, the scene replaying over and over and over again in his head.
So stupid. He'd been such an idiot, and now Billy had payed the price. Slowly Matthew takes a choked breath. And then he closes his eyes, shuddering and still utterly frozen in place.]
[At first, there’s this sense of joy. He’s finally coming to her for help, huh? Well, soon as she got there, everything would be absolutely fine.
… Guess she was too late about that.
At some point, her pace that was formerly a run slowed and stalled to the point where she couldn’t bring herself to take another step. There wasn’t much she could do besides hold her SFC numbly in her hand.
Why wasn’t she there? Why didn’t she hurry up? Why was she out saving people she didn’t even know? Why couldn’t she maintain even the slightest form of loyalty and stay by the side of someone who needed her most?
Eventually, she realizes she needs air. But for some reason, the breath she took sounded a lot like a sob. And the screen of her SFC was covered in droplets and small rivers- when did that happen?
Then she can’t hold it in anymore. She forgets where she is and what she was about to do. She crumbles. She didn’t think she’d ever cry like this again.]
