When they came to get her Tess knew something was wrong, or more wrong than they had been for the past... couple of days? A few? She wasn't sure how long she'd been here since she couldn't see any outside light, but she knew that she was hungry and worn out from not sleeping well. She'd finally conceded to eat a little of the food, but not much because she didn't trust them. If they didn't put something in it now they might later. But there had been no more taunting from Alena or anyone else; the guards brought the food silently and left it there; she spent nearly all of her time alone.
Right now, the guards were smirking and one jerked her roughly to her feet. She knew better than to struggle now, but that didn't keep her from giving them one of her patented Looks, even though it would do no good. And it didn't. They merely chuckled as they cuffed her hands behind her back; the sound made her guess that her worst fear had come true: Michael was here. Why else would they be doing this?

Michael, being a smartass, wouldn't keep his mouth shut and was punched in the stomach twice more before Tess was brought in. By then he was in between catching his breath and letting out a mocking laugh, since he had just 'made a bet' with one of the guards about how in the end he would be the one winning.
The sound quickly disappeared, though, as soon as his eyes focused and he saw Tess being held by the two guards. He would have struggled against the ropes, but before he could do so he coughed a few times as his body tried to deal with the punishment it was enduring.
"See, Ms. Jacoby," Jack said with a smirk, waving a hand towards Michael who was still trying to catch his breath, and whose clothes seemed dirty. A gash on the side of his head kept bleeding down the side of his face, and various small cuts on his face gave away the accident he had been in. "Here's the first part. We have him all ready to go so you can see how I always win."

"You fucking bastard." After a look of sheer dismay crossed her face when she first saw Michael, it turned to pure anger moments later, directly solely at Jack. She lunged forward, almost forgetting the cuffs, until one of the guards yanked her back so hard she cried out and staggered against him; it felt like something might have torn in one of her shoulders. She looked at Michael once more and wanted to ask if he was okay, but she didn't say so with words. They would like that. She hoped her expression was enough for him.

Seeing her get pulled like that was enough to make Michael forget about everything, and this time he did struggle against the ropes that were holding him down. Even if he could barely move as it was, two more guards grabbed him by the shoulders and forced him to sit back down. He would've kept on struggling, but her expression stopped him and he just let a corner of his lips raise very faintly in a way to tell her that he was fine. No way in hell he was going to give up, but god, he was so sorry.
That was the part he wanted her to know the most: That he was so sorry he was putting her through this. So, so sorry...
Jack brought closer a chair so the guards that were holding Tess could hold her down there, and he slowly approached her with a smirk as Michael's eyes blazed with so much rage that he couldn't see straight for a moment. "If you touch her--"
"You're in no position to make threats, Michael." Jack's eyes never left Tess, and he reached to touch her face. "I can do whatever I want."
