Tess's head had lifted when they brought Michael in, and she tried to keep the pleading from her expression. There was nothing he could do, and she would only make it worse. She knew she must look horrible as she'd barely been sleeping, they'd hardly given her any food for the past few days, and her hair was unwashed and uncombed. But she didn't care about herself at all; she only cared about Michael, and had been going crazy wondering what they were doing to him, or had done, or if he was even alive. She'd cried many times as she hadn't cried since her mother had died.

When Michael started to laugh she flinched, and it took her a moment to realise the tone of his laughter had no humor in it at all. She wished he'd stop because it was... awful. He sounded like a madman. At least he was alive though, and her eyes searched him to see if they'd hurt him anymore. She couldn't tell, but he was alive. Alive. Thank God.

Michael didn't stop laughing until one of the guards holding him upright pulled him by the hair - which was probably longer than any other time Tess had seen it, and even then he kept chuckling under his breath every now and then. He was so tired. So fed up, with just everything.

The main damage of whatever had been done was mostly underneath the dark t-shirt he was wearing so any bloodstains were barely visible, and his broken wrist was handcuffed behind his back so she wouldn't see it. On his face there were some bruises, cuts and even splatters of dry blood but Jack had preferred to cause the damage internally.

Well... Internally and emotional, which meant he was doing a fantastic job by the looks of it; Jack certainly seemed pleased.

Another chair was brought in, and Michael was shoved onto it. It was then that the laughter died as quickly as it had come, and he did something he wouldn't normally do: His body seemed to curl into himself by how much he was hurting.

God, let it end let it end let it end, let her go already...

Despite everything, Tess wasn't broken yet, and her burning eyes swung to Jack. "Shut the fuck up and leave him alone. You've done enough to us so you should be fucking happy. Let us go."

She didn't really have any hope that it would work, but she was too mad to care.

"I'll be 'fucking happy' when he's dead, dear," Jack said almost cheerfully as he took her face by her jaw tightly. "Remember my promise?"

"Let her go." Michael's voice was hoarse, tired and almost hollow but there anyway. "Let her go already. Do whatever you want to me, but let her go."

Jack sighed. "You'd figure after all this time you would know my answer for that already. Besides, she's going to help me ask you a few questions... Things I've been curious about."

He looked up then, and his jaw clenched a little. "No."

"No?"

"I won't answer anything 'til she's gone."

And now it was Jack's turn to laugh, and he turned to Tess. "If I let you go..." His smirk widened in amusement as he tried to stop himself from laughing. "Would you leave?"
