My wife and I have some friends that we hang out with together and others we spend time with separately. For the most part her friends are female and mine are male but its not a hard and fast rule - it just happens that it's broken down that way over time.

In general when I get together with friends we tend to structure it around an activity (e.g. movies, watching a game, playing something like basketball etc.) while my wife and her friends tend to get together to talk or catch up.

I think I've never really spent a lot of time thinking about it.

I like you guys as a pair. I could hang out with each of you individually, but I think we have the most fun together. :).
