Good pictures. Black&white was a good choice except for the actual ruins.

The ruins would've looked great in B/W except for my limited developing skill-set in low contrast photographs and the lack of proper lens filters.

The photos have an old world feel to them - lovely!

Yeah, that's half the reason I love B/W photography. It's a process.

your subjects seem comfortable with you being behind the camera. that's a pretty neat skill, right there. My great-aunt has spent her life taking pictures. she has a similar quality. and at some point decided to, and still does, spend every minute (except at dinner) carrying her camera around her neck. You could become really good at this. not that you need me to tell you that!

Ooh, what a beautiful photograph. I love it. Black and white makes for such great character photography. Thank you for your kind words.

Yes, some got ruined by the X-ray, some others are still just negatives and not final prints. It's a back breaking process - I could only print 15 or so in 2 days of sitting (with lot of hit and trial, ofcourse, to get the contrast, color and grain right). I plan to take a few more prints this month and shall put it up here.

Very evocative photos ...I like the one of the ruins. Lucky you - how was the trip?

He he.. I wonder why everyone calls me 'lucky' for visiting Peru. Almost everything that "could" go wrong on a trip went wrong on this one. I lost a bag, then found it, almost missed a flight, had a ligament tear right before the 4 day trek, forgot the film in the bag on the way back to US and it passed through the X-ray (the white band in the first photo is a tell-tale X-ray remnant) :)

All in all, it was a 'complete' trip. Mysterious, adventurous, beautiful, quiet and very serene. I'd do it again in a few years perhaps.

Ah, so you had the 'complete' trip - don't know why you're complaining!:) The ligament tear does not sound good but the photos are good(to my amateur eye) despite the x-ray treatment!
I'm going to the Lake District in a couple of weeks - will try to take some photos - don't know if they will be as successful! I hope it is serene there.
ps: I'll have to make it to Peru someday...

What, me complain? Nah! I was merely introducing you to the veiled irony surrounding your misconceptions about my luck (whew)! I hope you have fun on your trip and that you enjoy taking and looking at the photographs you take.

You should do Peru someday. Everyone should.

I'm reliving my own trip there last July through your travelogues. :)

Did you get a chance to climb the Wayna Picchu as well?

Sorry, I just noticed this comment. No, I had a knee injury on a climb prior to climbing Machu Picchu and didn't get a chance to climb Wayna Picchu as well. A couple I know did climb it but it was so cloudy that they didn't get to see any good sights from up there.
