Since it's already happened once today, I figure I should open it up to whoever wants it. So take today as a defriending-without-guilt day, if you're so inclined.

It's LJ, it seems like there's always some kind of drama going on. It's just especially crazy right now.

Very true.

But then, I've noticed lately a lot of friendships ending over the most retarded reasons. Ugh.

Oh, it's okay to speak your mind, as long as you agree with everything they do. Once you deviate from that, then you're picking fights or being mean or being insulting. But you know, anyone who doesn't support my right to my own opinion, just as I've supported theirs, isn't really my friend in the first place. So no skin off my back, it just really tells me about people.

I guess some people really haven't heard of the freedom of opinion. Besides, defriending someone over such a thing as a difference of opinions is... well, childish.

No, I think it's more 'you have the freedom to hold *my* opinion', which I don't agree with at all. And yeah, I agree with you that it's childish, especially when this has been our first disagreement. But such is life and friendship on the internet, I guess.

Ah yes. I had a friend like that. Luckily, the disagreements got serious enough so I had an excuse to leave first. I just wish another friend of mine wouldn't have been blamed for it - after all, I do have a brain and can make my own decisions. Besides, said second friend and I have survived many a disagreement.

I am really proud of my f-list, you know. Most of them were against striking. :) That doesn't mean I blame those who did strike. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

I agree with you, I don't blame or look down on those who did strike. I don't agree with it, or even with the reasoning behind it, but I firmly support their ability to protest as they choose. That being said, most of the people on my flist either ignored the whole thing entirely or were against the strike. There's only been a couple that haven't posted, and only one of those that I know for sure was because of the strike. (And of course, she's the one that defriended me...)

What, over the posting on Friday business? Jesus. *hugs* I was happy to see you post. I felt lonely all day.

Well, since we had argued about it, and everything had been fine up until that point, yeah, I'm pretty sure it had to do with the friday business. But such is life. I'm glad I could make you feel less lonely!

I waited until this morning to write this, because I wanted to be sure I was being calm and rational about it. Having seen your response on your LJ confirms I was right in my decision last night ( ... )

I was reading it at 1am, after the strike. Of course I don't mind what anyone writes in their own journal, but I reserve the right not to read it when I find it annoying and uninstructive. I confess I can be a drama queen when it comes to things I feel passionate about, and anyone who wishes to distance themselves from me for that reason or any other is perfectly at liberty to do so.

And I can assure you my knickers are perfectly comfortable, thank you. How are yours these days?

Choosing to defriend me last night and then not give me a reason until quite a bit later means I'm going to have to make assumptions about your reasons, and I never really expected you to give me one. Having now got one, it's pretty much as I assumed ( ... )
