Wow. This is an interesting question.

I've often wished we could roll back the ecological calendar and study what this hemisphere looked like before the europeans came over.

Of course, once this was studied I'd probably want another roll back to prior to human migration... that kind of dream thinking can just keep going back, and back, and back...
