Really? I have no idea whether this is real, credible, or even possible, but I have *hope*.

I think the answer is right there at the top of the article:

"Page last updated at 02:05 GMT, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 UK"

Note the date. April Fools!

Based on that I know of the equipment used by ham radio operators to communicate via signals reflected off of the moon, I think the largest radio telescope on the planet might be able to detect a stray TV signal bounced off of the moon.

Detecting a 50 light year bounce would require an antenna about the size of the Earth's orbit!
