Angst, Romance... what else... Angst?
KAT-TUN goes on a tour and Jin has to share a room with Kame. The problem is that Kame is the person Jin hates the most in the world. Can someone see the other's true self when hatred blinds him?
Warning: In this fic Jin will be quite cruel to Kame, emotionally and physically. And I mean it. If you're not comfortable with the idea then I'd sadly suggest you not to read it.
Prologue
“There is no faculty of the human soul so persistent and universal as that of hatred.” Henry Ward Beecher
Jin cursed inside his head for the nth time that morning and it was still early. But he couldn’t help it. Anger was a stronger feeling than he would be able to fight against it for too long. He was even impressed by himself that he hadn’t yet got up and beat the living shit out of the young man he was watching.
Hatred. That was it. Burning anger and pure hatred that he felt every time he looked at Kame. He had no idea what the reason was but honestly, he didn’t care. This feeling had been building up in him during the years, slowly and gradually until it reached the point when even he himself was afraid of doing something he would regret later. He knew he would lose his control sooner or later but he fought against it because he didn’t want to end his career yet.
He lost control once, a year ago when Kame had the guts to ask him something about work. Jin thought he would explode when he heard those words coming from the younger man’s mouth. Not because of what he said but because it was Kame who said it. His voice, his smiling face, his gestures were enough to make Jin extremely annoyed and the anger pushed all the reasonable thoughts out of his head so he grabbed the younger one’s arm and shoved him to the corridor wall so hard that Kame banged his head and almost lost consciousness. ‘Don’t talk to me.’ was all Jin hissed into his face before pushed Kame once again to the wall and releasing him, walked away. And Kame didn’t talk to him anymore.
The worst was that Jin was feeling guilty that time. Not because he hurt Kame, but because he didn’t regret hurting him. He felt guilty because he didn’t feel guilty for what he had done. He knew he should have felt sorry for him and apologize but he couldn’t. If he had decided to stand in front of Kame and apologize, he was sure he would have punched him instead.
He couldn’t really explain it. There was no explanation. Love and hate don’t need a reason, they say. And Jin believed in it. He just felt annoyed by Kame’s presence. He hated his face, his voice, his smiles, his gestures, his perfect eyebrows and his pinkish lips, he hated the way he walked, the way he talked, everything the other did. He hated that Kame was so exaggeratedly devoted to work and he despised the image the younger one wanted to present. He truly, honestly, seriously hated Kame.
They didn’t talk, didn’t share one single glance when the camera was off. They didn’t greet each other in the morning, and didn’t say goodbye when the day was over and Jin loved that silent agreement between them. They hadn’t decided it, they hadn’t talked about it, not even once but both of them agreed. And Jin was more than happy with it. He didn’t want any connection with Kame.
It was funny, Jin thought. No one knew how it worked. From the outside they were only cold to each other and Jin had to be proud of his acting skills because no one suspected that ‘coldness’ was not an appropriate expression to describe their relationship. Hatred was the right word.
Jin wished fans would stop talking about them. Many of them thought that AkaKame was real, that they had a kind of romantic relationship which they tried to hide. It was more than ridiculous. They didn’t know that the rare glances they stole from each other, the fleeting touches in front of the camera that all the fans believed to be a proof of their secret love, was all planned and fake. Not love was what they tried to hide when they looked at each other from time to time, but hate. It was all planned. It had a purpose, all those gestures weren’t accidents, they did it because it was easier to pretend they probably had something between them than stay away completely. It would have been too obvious.
They were friends at first, of course. Just like two young boys who had crossed each other’s way, who happened to be in the same group, met every day, worked together. But it was over a long ago. They were kids at that time and now they had grown up. And the firendship they shared back then had turned into something else or more precisely, into nothing. They became cold towards each other, more and more until they barely talked and in Jin the feeling of hatred grew stronger and arrived at the point that he couldn’t even look at the other if it wasn’t necessary.
There were moments when he looked at Kame for a moment because the younger one was too loud or was in the centre of attention and Jin snapped his head to look at him before he could stop himself. That was the case this morning too and that was the reason Jin found himself cursing non-stop. He wanted Kame to shut the fuck up and just sit in the corner without speaking and smiling. He wished him to cease to exist, actually.
“Guys, we have to go to the meeting. Manager-san is waiting for us.” Ueda said in his usually low voice when he stepped in.
All of them got up and walked towards the door of KAT-TUN’s room and headed to the manager’s office. Jin walked slowly, he wanted to give Kame time to step out and go ahead so he didn’t have to go closer to the younger man. He just wanted to shut those annoying sounds out that kept coming from Koki and Kame who were discussing something passionately, laughing and teasing each other and Jin felt the urge to hit the wall beside him with his already clenched fists.
“Ok, sit down, guys. It won’t last long, since all of you have to go back home now and pack your clothes.” the manager said as he closed the door behind the guys and signaled to them to sit down.
“Pack? Why?” Nakamaru asked, surprised.
They all looked at the manager, having no idea what this all was about.
The man nodded with a smile. “Yes. KAT-TUN goes on a tour.”
All the manager got as a reaction were glares and gasps.
“What do you mean? Now?” Kame asked finally.
The man nodded once again. “You’re going on a tour. Actually there will be a training first, for three weeks. Then another two weeks for the concerts. We are going to visit many cities around Tokyo.”
“But… but why do we have to pack then? We have still three weeks for training.” Jin found his voice.
“That’s right, Akanishi-kun”, the manager answered. “But the training will be held out of the town. We’re going to stay in a hotel. It will be a special training.”
“What do you mean by special training?” Koki’s eyes widened at hearing the word.
“I mean that you cannot come home, you have to stay there for the whole five-week period.”
“HUHHHHHHH???”
The manager laughed. “Calm down, guys. It’s not that terrible.”
Kame narrowed his eyes. “What is the purpose of this?”
They all fell silent and waited for the older man’s answer. “I’m not gonna answer to this question yet. You have to realize yourselves what the meaning of this really is.”
Jin snorted. “Bullshit.”
“You guys only have to concentrate on your work. It’s a great possibility. Don’t let it go.” the manager smiled. “Anyway, Johnny-san had already decided so you can’t do anything against it.”
“Great.” Jin sighed. He knew that they had no other choice then. If Johnny had decided, then they had to go.
“Okay then. When are we going?” Kame asked and Jin rolled his eyes. Kame was so easy to convince if it was about work.
“Tomorrow morning. At 8. a.m, in front of the jimusho.”
“Manager-san, can I use my cell phone while we are away from civilization?” Koki asked.
“Don’t exaggerate, Tanaka-san. It’s neither an exile, nor punishment. See you tomorrow. Have a rest tonight. You will need it.” the man smirked and the six guys felt shiver running down their spines.
They all said their goodbyes and left.
‘Great. Just fucking great.’ Jin cursed again. He would spend five weeks with the man whom he hated the most. He could only hope that he could stay away and supress his anger while they would be under the same roof. But he had a bad feeling about this tour. It didn’t seem right. It was a very bad omen.
-
Next morning, when Jin arrived at the jimusho he was sure that it was bad omen and he cursed his luck.
“You’re late, Jin.” Koki said, grinning.
Jin threw him a death glare. “I know and why are you so happy about it?”
Koki shared glances with the others then smirked at Jin evilly. “Manager-san told us to choose room mates but we can’t choose those who hadn’t arrived on time.”
Jin gave him a confused look. “And?”
Koki kept grinning. “Well… since Kame was also late… we chose among ourselves and only you and Kame left, so…”
Jin blinked at him then the realization hit him and his eyes widened. “What?”
“You and Kame will be room mates.” Koki patted his friend’s shoulder and got on the bus which had pulled off beside them.
Jin snapped his head to look at Kame, who was standing in silence with his head hung low. He didn’t look at Jin and after a a moment of hesitation he followed the others to get on the bus.
Jin glared on the manager. “Are you kidding, right? I won’t be in the same room with him. No way.”
The manager sighed. “I’m sorry but you have no choice.” he said simply and left the gaping Jin in the middle of the street.
“Good. Just fucking perfect!!!” Jin cursed, this time loudly, and groaned in anger before he turned around and walked to the bus.
