Masterpost #2 - Something New To Learn
“Kame?”
“...”
“Kaaaaaaameeeeeeeeee”
“...”
“Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaameeeeeeeeeeeeeee.”
“...”
“Ka-zu-ya!!!”
“...”
“Kaaaaaaaaazuuuuuuuuuu-chaaaaaaaaan”
“...”
“Kamenashi Kazuya!!!”
“WHAT???” The script landed on the table with a loud thud and Kame's deathly gaze landed on Jin, who was lying on the floor, legs spread wide, his hair in a mess and pouting.
“Why are you ignoring me?”
“I'm not ignoring you, Jin. I'm trying to study.” Kame said with as much patience as he could muster as he picked up his script again and buried his face in it.
Jin rolled on his stomach. “But I'm bored.”
A long, deep sigh was heard behind the papers. “Then you should study your part as well. Maybe.” Kame said sarcastically.
“Done,” Jin exclaimed, smirking.
Kame lowered his script and stared at Jin with two raised eyebrows. “Really?”
As an answer, Jin nodded his head, his chin digging into a large pillow.
“O-okay,” Kame said slowly, he ran his eyes over his lines one more time before he placed the script next to him on the sofa, then looking back at Jin. “I didn't do it for Take's sake. I thought his mom would cry if Take got expelled.”
After Kame's words, there was silence. Jin was looking back at him blankly. Then he closed his eyes, seemingly deep in thought before opened them again and made some vague gestures with his hands as if it would make him remember what he should say.
“Err... let's go eat ramen, Odagiri?” he guessed and his face met another huge pillow Kame threw at him.
“At least you remember my character's name.” Kame murmured and turned back to his script.
Jin groaned. “I'm bored, Kame. Let's do something, please. Let's go out.”
“Learn your part, Jin then we can go out.” Kame answered in a cold voice.
“But I told you I'm done.” Jin whined as he peeled himself out of the pillows and crawled closer to Kame.
“You don't know your part, Jin. How do you want to stand in front of the camera tomorrow if you don't know what you should say or do. We can't go out because...”
Kame's ranting was cut off by two fingers which appeared on the edge of his script, pulling it down slowly, revealing a smirking Jin as he looked up at Kame. His face was a bit closer than it should be, Kame noted.
“If anyone got expelled because of this and held a grudge against me, I'd feel bad.” Jin whispered and continued smiling at Kame, satisfied.
Kame blinked at him then looked at the script, checking Hayato's lines.
“I told you.” Jin sang and laughed at the expression that plastered Kame's face. “And now, let's go.” he grabbed the younger boy's hand, trying to pull him up from the sofa.
“I can't, Jin, I can't.” Kame freed himself, looking slightly panicked. “I don't know my part yet that well. I can't go.”
Jin stilled and stared at his friend's scared face then rolled his eyes. “Oh, come on, Kame. You know not only your lines, but everyone else's, too. Don't be stupid.”
Kame looked down at his script doubtfully. “I wanted to read it through.” he muttered and Jin heaved a sigh then his face lit up as if someone switched the light on in his head.
He put a sweet smile on his face and turned to Kame. “Kazuuuuu, would you teach me how to play baseball?”
There were no words to describe Kame's expression at that moment and Jin knew he won. “Huh?”
“You know how clumsy I am when it comes to baseball. Teach me.”
Kame gulped and bit his lips to hide his smile of excitement. And he also knew that Jin won.
-
The setting sun found them at the park, which was empty, fortunately.
Kame put his jacket on, proud letters were stretching across his back with his name. He swang his bat a few times in front of him, enjoying the sound it made in the air. Jin smiled as he watched the younger man; Kame's eyes were literally sparkling, on his lips there was a small smile as he got into position confidently.
The bat in Jin's hand was hanging low, he couldn't care less about it; it was so much more fun to watch Kame.
The younger man swang the bat for one last time then picked up a ball from the ground and turned to Jin.
“So, are you going to show me what you can or not?”
Jin smirked and lazily lifted his bat, his fingers clutched around it tightly.
“Oh no.”
Jin blinked at him. “What?”
Kame rolled his eyes and stepped closer, grabbing Jin's bat with one hand then pushing the older man's hands lower. “You're holding it as if you don't know which end is going to hit the ball.”
Jin snorted. “I told you I have no idea about baseball. You said you would teach me so you're supposed to tell me what I should do.”
“Fine. Hold it like this. Okay.” Kame stepped away and looked at Jin, frowning. “You're too tense.”
He inched closer again, stopping behind the older man's back, one hand pushing him gently to make him bend forward a bit, the other holding him at the waist.
“Now that's an interesting pose.” Jin said, earning a smack on the head.
“Shut up.” Kame muttered and Jin could feel how the warmth leave him as Kame stepped away. He could swear Kame's face is as red as a tomato. Jin loved teasing him.
“Okay, try this.”
Jin fidgeted, tapping his fingers on the bat. “It's uncomfortable. I can't move like this.”
“It's a sport, Jin. It doesn't have to be comfortable.”
“I still don't get it.” Jin whined and tried to swing his bat but it came out rather awkwardly. “I don't get it. Why can't I just swing it without standing in any weird pose?”
Kame sighed and raised his own bat. “Because it has a technique, Jin. Okay, I'll show you.”
He walked a bit further in front of Jin and got into position, touching the ground with his lowered bat a few times. “You have to loosen your arm but hold your wrists firmly.” Kame explained and didn't notice Jin, who sneaked behind his back in the meantime.
“Focus on keeping your balance. Your feet and legs should be steady while your waist should move freely...”
Jin smirked as he was approaching the younger man's back, planning to startle him by suddenly appearing while Kame was into his explanation so much. Kame would surely scream or freak out.
“... then raise your bat behind your head and...”
“AAAAAAHHHH” a shriek and a thud was heard from behind Kame's back and the bat stopped in the air after it came into contact with something solid. Namely, Jin's nose.
“Oh no...” Kame froze then slowly turned around, only to find Jin on the ground, both hands pressed on his face, whimpering.
Kame's eyes widened and he first threw the bat away then threw himself on the ground next to Jin. “Oh god, let me see, let me see.”
Jin raised his head and let Kame peel his fingers from his nose. The younger man winced at seeing how Jin's eyes watered in pain then winced for the second time when he examined Jin's nose.
“Is it bad? It's bleeding, isn't?” Jin groaned, blinking.
“Ah... just a little bit,” Kame lied then cupped Jin's face and turned to the light of the streetlamp nearby. “God, did I hit you above your eye, too?”
“And my lips, too,” Jin said, his voice muffled by the hand he pressed on his face again.
“Come on, I'll take you to the hospital,” Kame stroke Jin's face fleetingly with an apologetic expression before he stood up and pulled Jin with him.
-
Kame had to wait for Jin for two hours in the hall. He started to feel like a mother, waiting for his little baby. Not that he was bored. He was quite busy with trying to figure out how he would compensate Jin after this. First of all, he has to apologize. Then make dinner for him. Probably make dinner every day for a week. Pasta. He will cook pasta every day for a week. Let's make it two weeks. That will do.
After an agonizing two hours of wait, the door finally opened and Jin walked out.
Kame gasped and stared in shock.
“It's not broken.... What?” Jin slurred the words since his lips were swollen. Just like his left eye. And his nose. And all his face started to have a hue of purple and black and blue. Kame was sure Jin wouldn't need any disguise for the next two weeks.
“Is it that bad? I didn't look into the mirror yet. Let me take a look...”
“NOOOOO!!!!” Kame jumped up and grabbed Jin who wanted to walk into the restroom to find a mirror.
“I-It's not that bad.”
“You're lying. Let me see it.” Jin started to freak out and this wasn't good.
“Okay, okay but promise me you won't panic. Please.”
Jin shut his eyes then nodded slowly. “Okay.”
Kame guided him into the restroom and stopped him in front of the mirror, burying his face into his palms to prepare himself for Jin's outburst. He heard Jin gasp loudly.
“Jin... Jin, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.”
“Cool!”
“What?” Kame looked up only to see Jin leaning forward to examine his face closely with a smile as wide as he could have with those swollen lips.
Jin turned to him. “I'd never thought a baseball bat could hit that hard.”
Kame was confused because Jin looked a bit amused. “Errr... you're not mad?”
“Well, it's not like I've been dreaming about ending this day with having a black eye and an almost broken nose...”
“I'm sorry, Jin.” Kame muttered but Jin patted him on the shoulder.
“Well, it's a good thing, we're shooting the fighting scene tomorrow, don't you think, Ryu?”
And with that he walked out of the door, humming to himself. Kame stood there where he was left, still trying to understand how one can be so lamely optimistic all the time when a thought hit him as he remembered himself raising the baseball bat and hitting his bandmate. What the hell was Jin trying to do behind his back?
