i'm sorry

Fluff and I have no idea why but I have the impression that it's a bit angsty. Not explicitly, maybe only because I know what they still don't know.

Jin complains that he can't share a room with Kame one of his bandmates.
Masterpost #7 - Sorry For Things That Never Happened
At first, Kame simply couldn't believe his ears. When he glanced at his watch and saw the time, he decided not to believe his eyes either.
Groaning, he pulled the blanket on his head and kept hoping if he was concentrating hard enough, the one knocking on the door for the last ten minutes, would go away or at least eventually fall asleep.
He wasn't lucky, Kame concluded as the knocking, instead of fading away, only became rapid and persistent and when an impatient voice followed, Kame finally gave up.
“Kame, Kame, Kame, Kame, Kame, Ka-”
The door swung open and the sight somehow was not surprising at all.
“-me.”
A grin from the intruder's side and a death glare from Kame's were exchanged.
“Jin.”
“Ouch, stop gritting your teeth, they will disappear in the end.”
Kame blinked a few times, his eyes now wide open and directed - not less menacingly - at the dark blond boy, standing at the doorway, still grinning. Jin decided to end the eye battle before Kame's gaze would literally burn holes into his head and gently pushing the younger one away, he stepped in.
Kame wondered for a moment if Jin's watch had stopped working so, just in case, he asked. “Do you have any idea what the time is?”
“Errr.... midnight?” came the answer in the form of another question and Kame gulped, trying to remain as calm as possible.
“Past midnight. To be exact, three hours past midnight,” he hissed and could feel flames darkening his vision. He could swear his ears were steaming by now as Jin didn't react in any way, just wandered around the room.
“I like your room,” he exclaimed as if it was the proper moment to start complimenting each other's places.
Kame sighed. “You're right. My room. So can I ask you what you're doing in my room this freaking late and why in the world did you wake me up?”
Jin must have felt the threatening undertone because now he turned back to Kame and flashed a smile, looking somewhat apologetic. “I couldn't sleep.”
“Well, I could,” Kame pointed out, gesturing towards his bed, which seemed warm and fluffy and certainly more inviting than Jin's pointless questions and worries in the middle of the night.
Eventually, giving in, Kame stumbled to his bed and lay down, burying his head under is huge pillow. Maybe if he didn't answer anymore, Jin would get the message because apparently, words didn't reach him.
“I feel lonely in my room,” Jin admitted and earned a groan from the younger boy as a response. “It's strange we didn't get paired this time, isn't it? We have never got a room on our own before.”
“Yes and now that we got, we can't enjoy it on our own, because someone feels scared alone,” Kame mumbled into his pillow sleepily.
“I'm not scared,” Jin defended himself. “I'm lonely.”
“Whatever,” Kame agreed, slowly drifting to sleep again.
Jin bit his lips and started to rummage through Kame's belongings on the small desk. “Why the hell did you bring your English dictionary?” he asked, genuinly shocked.
“I'm going to have a test next week,” Kame answered, annoyed.
Jin sat down and flipped the pages of the dictionary lazily. “I don't get why you're taking private lessons in English. It's so boring,” he said with honest disgust on his face.
Kame peeled himself out of his pillow and heaved a defeated sigh. “Everyone speaks English, Jin. It's important to keep up with the modern world and be prepared. You'll never know when it proves useful,” he explained.
Jin pluckered his lips and stared at the semi-familiar characters. “I don't care if it's useful or not, it's still boring. And I know I'm never going to use it so why bother?”
Struggling to keep his eyes open, Kame chuckled tiredly. No one could convince Jin to do something which didn't seem to help him directly to reach his goals. He could never see further than tomorrow. Typical.
“Ne, Kame,” Jin said, shaking the younger boy out of his thoughts. “I've been thinking.”
“That somehow worries me,” Kame mumbled under his breath.
Jin ignored him. “I like being a junior. I like my life. And I'm happy that I met you.”
Kame raised his head and peeked at Jin. He sounded serious.
“I know that if we finally get the chance to debut I wouldn't do it with anyone else but with you guys. I think we are a great team,” Jin continued, still looking at the book in his lap, smiling to himself.
Kame didn't really know what to say; he agreed, they made a good team together.
“And you, my best friend, are the most important person to me in this group,” Jin said, looking up and flashing a charming smile which Kame couldn't help but return. Jin was rarely serious but when he was, he was good at embarrassing others with his kindness.
“I know we will be best friends forever. We have something special, don't you think?”
“Something special?” Kame repeated with furrowed brows.
Jin nodded a few times. “Yes, yes,” then he turned some pages in the dictionary and brought it closer to his eyes. “Kizuna, in English: bond,” he stated, looking proud.
“Bond?” Kame repeated with growing embarrassment, tasting the foreign word in his mouth.
Jin nodded. “Yes, bond,” he confirmed then thinking deeply, he tapped his fingers on the pages and his eyes lit up at once. “Like James Bond.”
“James Bond,” Kame said blankly then he slapped his pillow on his face, groaning.
With a laugh of amusement, Jin closed the dictionary and stood up. “Ne, Kame, do you think we have a special bond?”
“Sure, sure, one day I'll write a song about it,” Kame mumbled. “Now go and let me sleep.”
“Okay, okay,” Jin agreed, muttering 'bond' in English under his breath a few times. “But that's a promise, don't forget it.”
“I won't.”
Kame heard the door open and just when he thought Jin finally left him alone, the older man turned around. “I'm sorry.”
“For waking me up? If you're really sorry then just let me sleep, baka.”
“Not for that,” Jin said quietly and tapped his fingers on the doorframe. “Kame.”
Kame sighed. “What now?”
“If I do something stupid and make a mistake, will you forgive me?”
With a surprised gasp, Kame threw his pillow away and sat up, looking at Jin in horror. “Jin, what have you done?”
A bit nervously, Jin chuckled. “Nothing. It was a theoritical question.”
“Are you sure?” Kame narrowed his eyes.
“I am. So will you?”
The serious expression on Jin's face was strange, he looked concerned and suddenly very young. Kame could feel his heart sink low.
“Sure.”
Looking relieved, Jin gave him a wide smile and turned away. It was beyond Kame why Jin was apologizing for something that never happened or at least not yet, but it looked like the other one needed some kind of reassurance from him.
“And you?”
Surprised, Jin turned back when Kame's words stopped him. “Me what?”
“Will you do the same if I'm the one who does something stupid?” Kame asked, gulping. Maybe he needed to hear the same from Jin after all.
Jin smiled at him. “Of course, I will. Our bond is more important than any mistakes.”
The door closed behind Jin and Kame stared at it for a good ten minutes. “Bond, bond, bond,” he mumbled as he fell back on his bed, trying to get some well-deserved sleep finally.
