Ugh, temper tanties! My son still throws them and he's 11, boy has he got an attitude on him. >:( At least your son was big enough to apologise and set things to rights. That's very mature, good on him. =>

kids need to be in fear of something ossie April 21 2004, 21:04:21 UTC
I am against spanking and never spanked my daughter, but in return she never feared anything,
I feel looking back at the way we raised my daughter, she could have been a little more fearful if there was a gentle spanking every now and again for doing things against the rules,
you did fine , hopefully he will respect your descisions and eat what you tell him ot at least try to hide something under things and make it look like he did.
theres a difference between spanking and hitting them, and Im sure you felt worse than he did with the spanking,
noone should ever hit their kids , but the kids should live in fear of doing something wrong and maybe they will do the right things,

hopefully he will have fear of something, maybe just the fear of getting spanked again will be in his mind when acting out or doing something

raising kids is a tough thing nowadays,

things will be ok,

take care
Ossie

My son is the same kid who took my check book and wrote checks to himself and for himself -- gave them to the school trying to pass them off as 'Mom wrote them for me'.

He does things like today and I wonder if he doesn't need more spanking and less talking.

That's a good rule to have, I am adopting that rule when I have children. I am glad that he turned it around and apologized. Keep you head up. :)

I dunno. Kids are weird when it comes to food. I don't ever force my son to eat anything he doesn't want....even if it's just a bite.

If someone made you take a bite of food that you didn't want to have, how you would feel? I just let my son eat what he wants, try to get him to eat a nice balanced meal, and if he doesn't want to eat something in his plate....it's just not worth arguing over. When/if he is hungry, he will most definitely eat. Right?

To this day, my son doesn't eat any type of fish or seafood. One day, I'm sure he will come to his senses.

That is just it. My son usually eats anything. Few exceptions. Taking a taste of it (they are allowed to spit out what they really don't like) makes sure they learn to like things that they otherwise won't eat.

My girls eat almost anything. Katy doesn't like peanut butter, but will eat it on occasion. Tya doesn't like tomatos, but will try them each time. Ricky didn't use to like cole slaw, but maybe next time will try it and like it.

As for me. I try things I don't like all the time. Mushrooms being my biggie. Occasionally I will find one I like.

Funny you should say that about mushrooms....i keep trying olives thinking..."how on earth do people LOVE these disgusting things?" I cannot seem to acquire a taste for them.

I remember having to eat all of everything we were served... Not too big a deal for me, but I remember my sister sitting at the table forever not finishing her peas. :)
