I need a swooning gif because that would totally sum up my reaction to this post! Look at how much detail you've put into it! It's incredible! You are amazing; thank you so much for sharing this amazing guide, bb! ♥
Omg, this is too awesome for words! So many tricks and techniques I would have never thought of - that variations + masking thing is so ingenious, I need to try that asap. And I love how you use textures for coloring. What I never get is how you can use such huuuuge textures and know how much to resize them/how to place them to get a desired effect, like how do you even get a grasp on what you could do with something that large in icon-size? :O or do you just try stuff until something works?
Anyway thanks for writing this fantastic guide, definitely memming! ^^
Re: Large textures. Sometimes I'll crop a square and resize. I generally do that with blueymcphluey's textures because they are just so big. But with other large textures, like the elli, exposed or colourmayfade, I tend to put them onto the canvas, pick a layer mode and then move it around until I find something that fits with what I want. In the end, it's really all trial and error and masking and lowering the opacity, but once I find a couple of uses for a texture, I very rarely use it beyond those uses as well... if that makes sense?
