Your last paragraph is fantastic.

I need to reread Watchmen before I can be sure what I think of it (I read it a while ago without paying too much attention to it/analyzing whether I agree with the whole world being in love with it or not). It may turn out to be just self-important, which I have very low tolerance for. I'm definitely going to see the movie, though, and I can always enjoy Alan Moore's nuttiness (he lives in the woods and worships a snake deity!).

I tend to be very sceptical when everyone is loving a certain thing (Slumdog, Garden State, haha), but so far, I'm liking it. I will definitely write out my thoughts when I finish it. :)

Haha, yeah. I find Alan Moore fascinating!

im not too into movies, so the last paragraph is the only thing i really related to, except only in the capacity that i love both ok go and stupid, inane comedies (within reason - no dane cook, for instance). you must despise me and my family.

Oh wait. I love OK Go as well! But they just overuse their songs in movie trailers, I find.

Well, sometimes I don't want to concentrate on a serious movie and I just crave something light and funny. But stuff with Will Ferrell, for instance, makes me cringe. I guess I'm kind of old school because I prefer Jim Carrey and Robin Williams movies. :)

Haha, I'm glad you said no Dane Cook. ;)

About the Oscars? I have no idea. I don't know why people talk about them in the first place, as award shows are damn boring. I imagine it's great as an artist to get an award for how good your stuff is, but it's just boring to me to have to watch it.

Especially now that we're in a recession. Why do I want to watch people waste thousands/millions of dollars on a dress for the Oscars they're only going to wear for that one night? Even if they're renting said dress, and not owning it, it'd still cost thousands to rent, I'd imagine.

Well, I did watch the Oscars. I actually do sometimes find them entertaining (this year, they were great) and since I try to watch all the movies that are nominated, it's fun to guess who's going to win.

Of course, I believe that the simple act of presenting awards to actors is bollocks, but that's another issue. (That's why I was wondering why they were still talking about the Oscars more than two weeks after the fact.)

I'm pretty sure those dresses and jewelry are given or lent for free because actors will be advertising their fashion lines on the red carpet. It's just publicity.
