Yes it's THAT GOOD
Ok My review
A little background here for those that may not know (i dont think anyone that reads this doesent know this) I am a complete IRON MAN nut. It was my first comic book when i was 4 and i have read everyone of them that has come out . And pride my self in havening a huge collection of the comics and i have every toy ever made of him. I have all ways related to the carecture of tony stark. Not from the playboy millionaire side but more the fragil man using his mind to become a super hero. I think i never liked the whole hit by lightning or whatever silly origin story they come up with.
So i guess i've been waiting for the iron man movie for about 30 years now. lol
Ok so i was really worried thy would screw it up. I have seen every tailor and clip you can see on the web. Honestly i was worried i had seen too much of the movie. Well i'm happy to report there is still LOTS more in the movie. Yes you've seen some of the good lines in the tailors. BUt there are alot better moments in the movie.
Robert Downey JR. was pure and absolute GENIUS! He IS tony stark. I now could not imagine anyone else playing this part. I'm happy to say that i was wrong when i freaked out about him being chosen a few years ago.
Geff Bridges as Obidia stane. Man he's good. You reaaaally end up hateing him.
Gwenith platro as Pepper Pots. Very good as well. I think the only cast member that was somewhat lacking wa Terrance Howard as James Rodes. I honestly liked the supposed first choice of the guy from law and order (cant remember his name) but he coulendt get out of his contract for law and order at the time.
I was BLOWN AWAY by this movie. I can honestly say that the first time you see the MARK II armor I got chills. The special effects of this movie are unbelievable. You cant tell what senes are CGI and which ones are actual guys in suits. My only Knock on the special effects is that Iron Monger looks a little fake in CGI. But it didn't take me out of the movie at all.
The interesting thing about the story line is it was a very finely balanced mix of Story from Classic iron man (armor wars STANE ) and the more modern storys. I was somewhat annoyed by him saying a few times to Pepper that she was all he had. Uhhh Happy Hogan and james roads are there in the movie too. I was happy to see they did NOT turn Tony and Pepper into lovers. since that hasent happend in the 40 years of comic book storyline.
Of cours there are some cameos. Of course stan lee shows up. I think my Favorite is the one of Jim Cramer of mad money. It's done VERY well. And theres one other cameo that you have to wait till AFTER the credits to see. It's well worth it. (i wont ruin that one for you)
So in a nut shell. did Iron man live up to my VERY high standards?? HELLL YES! I seriously want to go see it again today. Thats how much i loved it. I will buy a Blue Ray DVD player before it comes out on DVD because i cant wait to see this movie in better resolution (the theater i was at had a shitty projector or the bulb needed to be changed, and i'm so use to 720P 30 frames that watching 448P 24 frames. They definalty left alot of hints and possible story lines to continue in a sequl. And i'm pretty sure there will be one. So they should get moving on it now! heheh
My words to cristie last night when i called her as i left the theater "four words,, Greatest fucking movie ever!!!"
Well least to me. This movie is just AMAZEING. And i'm sure i'll get flamed on this. But this movie made Spiderman the original and Xmen look like very CAMPY, cheezy hero movies. I put this on a leval. And possibly higher than the Original Superman movie (ken reves) it may be the best super hero movie ever made.
A few notes outside of this.
1.new trialer for The Dark Night,,, Must say that looks like it's going to be very good.
2.New trailer for the hulk....yea i really think they are makeing another sucky hulk movie. Not even Ed norton will be able to save this one. The GCI looks just as bad as the first one
3. The best looking trailer Has to be for a movie i dident know anything about till last night The Love guru A mike myers movie in the same silly vain of Austin powers. And alot of the same people. But it looked funny,
4New trailer for the New Indiana Jones movie... I hate ot say it. But i'm fearfull that this might be a stinker. This trailor dident give me a good feeling. The first one they put out a few months ago did. This one made me think they really just slapped somce crap together. I hope i'm wrong. I hope the new indiana jones movie is awsome. But from what i saw last night. I dont think so. Plus i've noticed not a whole ton of advertiseing going on for it when it's only three weeks out. Thats useually a bad sighn.
