Sort of an Update

Hi, hello.. whatever.. 😅
If you are reading this entry, I hope that you are well and safe wherever you may be.

Sort of a random write up of happenings for the past 2 months, that may sound like more of a narrative of what fangirling has been so far for me.

To begin, I am already on a fangirling hiatus since 2020 (especially on the last day of December, as it marks Arashi's last appearance with their This is Arashi Live concert). Feeling the effects of the pandemic and lockdowns of 2020 sort of affected my mental well-being, but thanks to Arashi and my other faves that I still find ways to cheer myself even though life has been tedious.

Came 2021 and I got busier than ever, and I thought that even though Arashi would be in hiatus, there are still those of the kouhai groups (Kinpuri, 6T, HSJ, SZ, etc.) that I also stan, but alas, I don't even find fangirling to be that entertaining anymore, never in my wildest dreams that I would no longer care about FOMO (fear of missing out) on updates, news, activities, etc. of those groups that from before I can't last a day without scrolling thru Twitter. I've always wanted to write about this one, but I really can't name the feeling of this when my life used to revolve around fangirling (at least most parts of it lol) that I really dedicate a portion of my time despite my busy schedule just to updapte and follow the "ganaps" (Filipino, loose translation is kinda like happenings) of my faves. It's not that I don't love those kouhai groups that I am a fan of or Janizu in general, I just kind of want to have a breath of other variety of music. That's where I got into The Rampage from randomly stumbling upon their music video on Youtube. Though I don't really wanna label this as comparing as both agencies are great and unique in their own ways, LDH really offered me openness in music and content, as well as their music genre exactly fit to what I've been looking for. That's why after The Rampage, I quickly got to know the other Exile Tribe groups/Jr. Exile and other LDH artists that are really talented. I don't want to sound like I am bashing Janizu since I know and I am aware of how strict the agency used to be, but with LDH it's like I get to know more of the groups and its artists without really being tied to the concept of their "core group" (if you get what I am saying lol), so that pretty much summarizes why I listen to LDH/Exile Tribe groups a lot now compared to the former.

As for the updates and content, I created a separate Twitter account to connect/get to know more fans of LDH/Exile Tribe, and though most of those I have interacted are nice, idk if it's just me but I kind of feel like there's already cliques of mutuals who's oshis and quirks are already established with one another. As for Janizu that entailed effort, patience, and dedication in finding content, most of the JE groups have their content fanbases here on LJ; but with LDH, it is so difficult to find content of their shows, even raw providers that I can only browse thru bilibili and some generous fans from here, among others. I get that LDH has CL as an exclusive streaming content, but it is still hard to find or where to get them unless you are subscribed yourself. And if we talk about subbed content, JE has more subbing communities (I know given the influence of even one member starring in a drama or movie), as for LDH there are only very few subbers who are active (I am not complaining as I know they have lives out from the fandom), so as a result, it's really either you learn the language yourself or I can only hope that LDH/Exile Tribe artists get more fans or recognition, because even magazine/appearances/concert reports are hard to understand unless someone who speaks English translate it for the wider fandom coverage. I think that given my experience as an Arashian and janiwota, we are kind of spoiled as to the number of dedicated people that are translators, raw providers, subbers, and etc. As much as I would like to delve deeper with LDH/Exile Tribe's shows and other content apart from music since they are accessible and most of them are on sns, the language barrier plays a big hindrance to that.

So now it's 2022 but I am nowhere back to feeling the "feel" and hangs of fangirling. It's like I can go for several weeks without openning my fangirl accounts. I still listen and watch their music releases or videos whenever I can, but I am no longer tied to the idea that I always have to stay online to know what is happening in real time. It's fine if I missed an announcement, news, or even the birthday of a member or anniversary of the group even if I really love them. I still buy their releases too (if I can, that is) and it's not really a big deal anymore if that album is already out several months later. I don't know if I can relive the feeling of being excited again.. it's not like any of my fandoms are not safe spaces (though issues and dramas would always surface from time-to-time) nor the people I interact with are no fun or no longer active, it's really just me who kinda took a step back to the thing I really used to love as a hobby.

Anyway, this entry is also an update that I am still alive on the fangirling realm, because I've been reading a lot of related posts that LJ might shut down given the situation, I suggest you backed up your content on DW especially for those that have communities, also, I am leaving here my alternate social accounts if in case, though as I said, I am currently inactive on all of these accounts. Feel free to message me, though I might take several days or weeks to respond (just a casual warning) 😅

Thanks for reading this entry, take care of yourselves and stay safe~ 🤍
