I actually wanted the meat of my last post to be this, but once I got started on the Pokemans, I couldn't shut up. This meme (that I stole from m_a_foxfire) actually looked really fun and will probably get me back in the habit of actually logging on to this journal more than once every other month.

Oh, I get to tl;dr about Pokemon some more? Awesome.

I actually can't remember what my first video game was, if PC games count. I remember playing a glorious fuckton of Sonic R as a child, and crying in frustration at such classics as Where In The World (or Where In Time) Is Carmen Sandiago? (Carmen Sandiago's ThinkQuick Challenge is also a pretty vivid memory, and I still have the game today), but timeline says Pokemon was most likely my first.

I got all three of the first Pokemon games (Red/Blue/Yellow) on Christmas when they first came out. I think Yellow might technically count as the first, because I think that was the one I started playing first. It had Pikachu on it and I was, what? It came to the states in '98, so I was... fffff, I was seven. And I loved me some Pikachu. I got a shitton of Pikachu stuff to go with the games, so I think that influinced me some more. When you're surrounded by Pikachu dolls and one of your shiny new games has a Pikachu on it, you'll quickly forget poor Charizard and Blastoise to go frolic with the cute little mascot monster.

I loved it from the very start. I mean, what seven-year-old kid wouldn't flip their shit over being able to go on a Pokemon adventure with Pikachu and the gang whenever they wanted to? It pissed me off that I could never evolve Pikachu into a Raichu, and that he seemed to hate and/or be indifferent to me from 90% of the game, but I still have my original Yellow Version cartridge (inside my DS box and buried under a pile of laundry to keep it safe from wandering gamenappers), and every time I rediscover it, I remember nothing but the joys of my childhood.

memes, pickles is a huge dork, pokemans, tl;dr
