TV fan 2011.12.23: Interview: Ninomiya Kazunari
What is the word to describe this year?
Predictably, it has to be “Arashi”.
That’s the only advantage of debuting as a group named with one kanji character, isn’t it? (laugh). I believe this year, group activities are very fulfilling. I also had solo activities, and as a group, we had concert tours and “Waku Waku Gakkou”, among other activities.
The tour which started on July currently is on a 4-month-long break until Osaka concert in January. About the concert, is there anything to improve or introspect?
In reality, we released a new song, so we do have to incorporate that.
I don’t have anything to introspect. How should I put this….it’s no use to consider everything as the stepping stone. Basically, it’s a one-shot performance. There’s no such thing like, “it didn’t go well at the time, so let’s do it this way next time”. Also, it’s the world where ‘wrong’ doesn’t exist.
What memories flashed your mind when you look back at “Kotatsu DE no Arashi” filming?
I thought, I’ve been doing this for 10 years. Isn’t it amazing? I’m glad it was a worthy 10 years, in my own way. It would be sad if someone told us “let’s reflect the last 10 years” and we only had 5 or 6 things. We are a lucky group because we are able to do that.
Aiba-san’s “human-bird” (mago mago Arashi) was memorable. But well, me myself, I don’t remember anything about it though. (Aiba said from beside him “You remember that don’t you? it was touching, right?). I wasn’t the one who flew. (Aiba: I see. Maybe you only remember you saw it? (laugh)). That’s right. That’s why I had exactly the same impression with if I’d watched it on TV. But I’m glad we were given the chance to reflect.
This year disaster occurred, you must have felt the power of music, or the power of television and radio, what do you think?
Perhaps we have this underlying feeling that we will never forget. We will never forget what happened and the present reality, and I think, it’s important to assess it without understating or exaggerating.
I believe what we can do is to continuously accomplish, without forgetting what happened. We have to do what we can do. In my opinion, this year was the year when we were searching for what we can do.
Who’s the most beautiful member of the year?
As expected, it must be Ohno san’s “Kaibutsu-kun”, right? (pointing out to the cover of previous edition). This magazine also made him as the cover. Kaibutsu kun must be very happy with that. Lately there isn't a day when I don't see him, I constantly see him.
And what is the most beautiful scenery this year?
The scenery of our concert is, as I thought, beautiful. The people who came to watch and us, not only the five of us but we, as the representative of hundreds of staff, we carry their thoughts and emotions on our backs when we performed on the stage. The act of creating the concert together is wonderful.
I was never chosen as the representative of anything when I was in elementary or junior high school. It is important, and I feel honored that we are chosen as representatives, to shoulder everybody’s thoughts and create concerts. I think it’s wonderful that we can enjoy doing it with everybody.
What are your wishes for next year?
I wish for all of the members to be in good health. I feel that being able to work in a good condition is the best material in order not to make our fans worried. We don’t want to make the fans worry about our health.
