Writing Updates + Nanowrimo

First of all, holy crap, Nanowrimo is soon. It's a good thing I know what I'm doing, and know quite a bit about what I'm doing, because it really snuck up on me. September seemed to go by really fast, at least for me.

Deathwalker sounds like a really good story :)

I hope that the revisions for Rotting Beauty go well.

Good luck with your revisions!

I used to be a "pantser" (Or as I usually called it "organic" writer--as in I go wherever the characters take me w/ just a vague notion of point A & point B) when it came to my writing, but over the past couple of years since I picked fanfic up seriously (well, I'll call it seriously because I've gone from one story on fanfic.net to about twelve) I've started doing at least a sort of outline. The outline isn't anything close to sacred, I've been known to scrap entire outlines and rewrite them because a couple of events developed in an unexpected way *laughs*

Good luck with Nanowrimo! Your story sounds like it'll be fun to write (and read ^_^)

Thanks!

Yeah, that's kind of what happened with me, too. I used to loathe anything resembling outlining or planning for the plot. But then I wrote a story that I had been thinking on for years, so when I sat down to write it, without realizing it, I kind of had a plot outline in my head, and the first draft turned out really well. It was the first time I didn't have to complete rewrite the first draft, and I really like that.

Crap, I forgot how close to November we are! I'm the same way with NaNo. I used to do all new stories, but the last few years I've just been working on rewriting old novels, or updating drafts. And I've always been a pantser. I've never been very good at outlining.

Are your horror fairy tale stories YA or adult fantasy? I usually write YA, but my gargoyle story is trying to re-identify itself as new adult, which is strange territory for me.

You have some really incredible story ideas here. Good luck with your revisions!

Eep, I know, it's like, just around the corner, right? Yeah, it's like, I do have new ideas, but I guess it just seems better to iron out the older drafts first. Even though I'm really excited to start something completely new :)

My horror fairy takes are YA. I used to always do adult fantasy, but in the last few years, I've done mostly YA. It's just a really great market right now, and you can play around with genre so much more :)

That's cool that your gargoyle story is shaping up as NA - I think NA could really use some more genre fiction. The post-apocalyptic story I mentioned I plan to do as adult, but I think it could really work as New Adult.

That is intense. I am just in absolute awe of your ability to finish things! Also, a tiny bit jealous.

Aw, thanks! *blushes* Finishing has never been my problem; it's the starting things that's hard for me!

I'm good at the middle parts. Never starting or finishing things though.
