Mirena IUD Review - Week 2

Mar 25, 2015 01:39

Ok I didn’t plan on making a weekly IUD review, but I just had to this week well because I just had to.
Normally I get my period at the beginning-ish of the month and usually it begins heavy and gets lighter over the course of the period. Because of my IUD, I was prepared for my first couple periods to be messed up one way or another. And so, as predicted, it did.
Change number 1- It came about a week earlier. Funnily, I literally had my previous period like 2 weeks ago (right before I inserted my IUD) and now I get it all of a sudden.
Change number 2- It is a LOOOOT heavier. I think this is the first time my period has been consistently heavy for the first two days because usually the blood volume halves each day. Not this time around where I’m almost on day 3 of my period and its still as heavy. I’m going through the super-sized tampons like there’s no end.

As a warning, they did say that the first 3-6 months, the period will be a LOT heavier and crampier, luckily I haven’t hit the crampier part yet, and luckily I don’t have the Paragard because that one makes all your periods heavier and crampier. I do look forward to when my transition period is over so that I have a consistently lighter (by at least 50% according to stats) or ~NO~ period at all. P.S. I realized not having periods also means the bonus of not needing to purchase pads/tampons and thus not creating extra waste! Talk about environmentally friendly!
