Well, officially a month and a couple days later has passed since I got my IUD inserted! Here’s a month update :3
Alright! So i’ve been making mostly angst private tweets and stuff every so often about my IUD adaptation process. And tldr it can be summarized as:
Spotting all day e’er’ day.
I’ve been using panty liner pads daily and I can’t tell when I’m on my period or when it’s just spotting anymore. My very first period post-insertion, as blogged about in week 2, was really really shitty. However, if I had my period last week (about a month since that previous period), it was literally a splotchy panty liner ¾ covered in blood once a day only. During my normal period, I would have to change 2-3 tampons soaking with blood each daytime. So when I noticed this deviation from spotting (small random splots of blood), I was like “Am i technically on my period but the IUD is getting to be in effect???” If my guesses were right, I was super super duper elated. In fact, if this is a hint to what all my periods in the future would be like (or even lighter in case I’m in that 50% who will generally never have a period when wearing an IUD), I am ridiculously joyous. There’s also the other really awesome bonus that pads give you diaper rash overnight. Panty liners (and IUDs duh) don’t!
Of course, it wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine at first. Within the first 3 weeks, I was kind of panicky because my vaginal discharge was coming out more yellowish than red/brownish. There were hints of orange, which my gyno said was ok, but the yellow was kinda frightening. Furthermore, I’m used to vagina smells and know what healthy vaginas are supposed to smell (and taste, kekeke) like. Also my vaginal discharge was also smelling more rotten fishy than normal (usually I smell sorta plastic fish-esque?) Most frightening of all during this time, was the fact that I got a message from my hospital’s clinic saying “Hey btw, your pap smear has developed bacterial vaginosis, aka the flora within my vagina sample has developed excessive bacteria!” While I did do a lot of STD research, I didn’t do much non-STD genital/reproductive research and had no idea what it was. Luckily the clinic advised to wait about 2 weeks to see if the sample (and I) indicated needing some antibiotics. Since last week, I think it got to a neutral-ish state by itself. Talk about a panic attack. (We concluded that it happened because my uterus was like -WHOA WTF IS THIS FOREIGN INTRUDER? ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!- )
Anyways, so looks like I still have about a month of transitioning left to go, so yaaaay~! (Hey if I’m lucky enough, maybe I won’t have my period anymore by the time it hits Fanime. boo-yah!)
