it's spelled "karaoke" babe! but if you say "carry-oh-kee" to a japanese person, they'll look at you like you're speaking English. "kara" is japanese, it means "empty" and "oke" is the first part of their bastardization of the english word "orchestra" which turns into "o-ke-su-tu-ra" but saying "oh-ke-su-tu-ra" takes too goddamn long and they shorten it to "o-ke". so, in effect, you've got the "empty orchestra". what the hell? it's only the "orchestra" you GET in karaoke because YOU, dear taxpayer, are the one supplying the vocals! no one ever said anything had to make sense.

i needs to do the SINGING! oh man.
