because if you weren't tragic, you wouldn't have any good stories to tell your grandkids. there are lots of synonymns for vomit: regurgitate, barf, blow chunks, puke, toss your cookies, throw up, be sick, get sick, spew, hurl, explode (?). there are lots of synonyms for sex, too. Like people say, there are lots of synonyms for words that have great cultural importance... like the 18 kajillion words for rice in Japan.
