http://airelement.livejournal.com/11132.html Chappu really did not want to teach Yuna about the birds and the bees. But he was older than the others, and the little girl had been asking awkward questions for a while now, so he’d been bullied into taking on the task. He hadn’t agreed until Lulu had threatened to cut every single blitzball he owned into little scraps of leather and then sew them in long chains to his ears as bizarre blue and white earrings.
He looked through the door in trepidation, waiting for the usual quiet giggle that often slipped free from Yuna while she walked, her daydreams evidently fun ones. After a few minutes of pacing back and forth, he looked out again. It was odd that she wasn’t there. If Chappu didn’t know better, he’d say that Wakka was delaying Yuna just to draw out his misery. Chappu decided he didn’t know better.
Another ten long minutes later, and Chappu finally heard Yuna laugh quietly at something Wakka said as he brought her to Chappu. Chappu didn’t know whether to be relieved or scared; on the one hand he wouldn’t have to wait around any more, but on the other he couldn’t escape now.
Chappu explained the facts of life as quickly as humanly possible, then made for the door. Yuna caught his sleeve and looked up at him questioningly.
“Why is it called the birds and the bees?” she asked. Chappu shrugged.
“Don’t know,” he said.
“Oh, I know,” Yuna said. “Because birds lay eggs, right?”
“So?” Chappu said.
“So, when ladies are pregnant that means they’re going to lay an egg,” Yuna explained patiently.
“No, no eggs, just babies,” Chappu said. “Yuna, I really have to go see… see a man about a dog.” Yuna nodded and let go of his sleeve, already looking round for one of her friends to play with.
Chappu hurried away and breathed a sigh of relief once he heard Yuna talking a mile a minute to some other kid. That had to have been the most traumatising experience of his life, and he hoped someone would hit him on the head with a blitzball so hard he wouldn’t remember it ever again.
Why eggs?! his mind wailed.
