http://airelement.livejournal.com/11132.html I’m not sure when my life and your life turned into our life. I never dreamed that a man from Sir Jecht’s Zanarkand - his son - would appear in my life in as surprising a way as he possibly could.
I heard you speak, that night we were in Zanarkand. You said, ‘listen to my story’. But it’s our story, and I told you so. And I’m so glad you accepted that our lives had become entwined.
You aren’t here any more. You’re… gone. Not dead. Part of you still carries on.
You didn’t know it, but you left a living legacy here in Spira. I wish I’d found out earlier. I’d love to see your face if I had told you that you were going to be a father.
I named him Tidus Jr after you. We live in Besaid with Rikku; she lost the travelling bug and didn’t want to return to live with the Al Bhed, so I asked her to come and stay with me.
Your son is crying, Tidus. Sometimes I wonder if he’s crying for his daddy, a man he’ll never meet. I can’t change that, but I can lull him to sleep with stories of you. I tell him about the pilgrimage, about all the things you said and the things that made me love you. He gurgles happily while I speak and falls back into a gentle slumber quickly. His breathing reminds me of yours when he’s asleep - I’m sure that once he gets a bit older he’ll make that sort of snuffly sound that you did while you slept.
I never want to put him back in his cradle. I want to hold him in my arms forever, and I wish you could be there to hug us both. But I have to let go of our son and put him back in his cradle and lay down in my bed alone, just as I have to let go of you. But even though I have to put the past - and you - behind me, you’ll always be, in my memories, by my side.
A Special World, by Sheelagh Lennon
A special world for you and me
A special bond one cannot see
It wraps us up in its cocoon
And holds us fiercely in its womb.
Its fingers spread like fine spun gold
Gently nestling us to the fold
Like silken thread it holds us fast
Bonds like this are meant to last.
And though at times a thread may break
A new one forms in its wake
To bind us closer and keep us strong
In a special world, where we belong.
