I think more and more on my family and how much I miss my father. I am hoping against hope that he actually does get laid off when his company moves so that he really can do as he's been planning -- drive his 36-foot-long or 42-foot-long or however big that honkin' thing is RV over here to the East Coast and stay for a while. Went to the State Fair with the kidlets today and some friends and their kids. It was absolutely frigid out there when we got there; we almost didn't stay. It's a good thing we packed the extra jackets to take with us, though I do wish we'd had hats and gloves for the kids. Well, BooPapa is defying all science once more. They moved him from hospital to elderly home at his request... and he continues to improve in both mood and mobility. They haven't done an X-ray in a week, but MIL says he APPEARS to be doing all right. So much so that her sister went home!

He's such a character :)

Life has been incredibly busy of late. I thought I'd have MORE time with Cyke in school -- and I do, but I don't either. Sprite and I spend a lot of time doing stuff that I just can't keep track of. :P And somehow it's NOT the housework. *sigh*  Ah well.

So yesterday I turned 36. Kinda weird. Weirder still to realize that when my mother was my age, I was 16. I cannot imagine having a 16-year-old at my age. Beyond bizarre. I can barely deal with a 5-year-old at my age. Anyway ( Read more... )

First day of kindergarten (and only day this week -- five-day starts Monday, they're doing a staggered entry with 5 kids at a time so as to get their assessments done and such). Took him to meet his teachers yesterday, just so they weren't total strangers, and he walked in like he OWNED the place ( Read more... )

I have to admit that I'm torn. As much as I think he's going to great in school, I have never really been a whole day without Cyke on a regular basis. I went to Michigan last year... and when I was in the hospital having Kiera. But other than that, nope -- preschool is only three hours out of the day. Cyke starts kindergarten next week. How did this happen? He's 5 and 1/2 years old -- half the time I wanna kill the child, the other half the time he's absolutely amazing (I guess that's pretty normal).
