Donghae placed the bottle of beer he had just finished drinking on the table, accidentally knocking it down. Hyukjae, Kangin and Tiffany looked up from their conversation. Hyukjae sighed and stood up.

“That’s enough for tonight,” Hyukjae told him, pushing the bottles of beer away from his grasp.

“I’m not drunk,” Donghae replied, glaring at him. He straightened up to reach for another bottle.

“I know you’re not,” Hyukjae calmly retorted, grabbing his wrist to stop him. “And you’re not going to be. Stop drinking.” He pierced his friend with his gaze. “Don’t make a scene.”

Donghae irately pushed his friend’s hand away and stood up, walking away. Hyukjae sat back down and shook his head.

“What’s wrong with him?” Tiffany asked, looking concerned. It was unlike Donghae to be acting has such. During the other times she’d seen him upset, he never drowned himself with liquor or threw a tantrum.

“Yeah,” Kangin wanted to know as well. “He’s been in a bad mood even before the party started.”

Hyukjae sighed. “He’s just upset about something and he doesn’t know how to handle it.”

Shindong and Hankyung arrived with Heechul in tow. They took their seats. Heechul leaned back on his seat. He was already feeling the amount of alcohol he had been drinking. The party was in full swing. Everyone seemed to be having the time of their lives, which was to be expected. Heechul always threw one of the best parties.

Kyuhyun then arrived, taking a seat beside Heechul.

“Kyu, where’ve you been?” Kangin asked conversationally.

“Around,” Kyuhyun vaguely answered, his eyes on the dance floor. He was just watching random people dance and have fun when, suddenly, the people in front of him moved. This gave their table a good view of Jungsoo and Jooyeon dancing. He immediately straightened up in his seat and nudged Heechul.

Before Heechul caught on, however, the other boys and Tiffany beat him to it. Hyukjae, Hankyung and Shindong didn’t say a word.

Jooyeon and Jungsoo were dancing incredibly close to each other, their foreheads almost touching. She had her arms around his neck, while his arms were hanging dangerously low on her waist.

“Is that Jooyeon?” Kangin asked, his eyes wide with disbelief. When no one answered, he looked at his friends. “Why is she…? What is she…?” He couldn’t quite form the questions in his head and ask them. “Is she drunk?”

Again, no one answered. Hyukjae looked away, not wanting to believe that he was witnessing Both Heechul and Kyuhyun didn’t quite know what to do. Although they knew the truth, it wasn’t their place to meddle. Besides, she had told them to stay away. But Hyukjae couldn’t help himself. He saw Jooyeon as a little sister, one he wanted to protect and, no matter what those pictures showed, he believed that she didn’t want this. She didn’t want Jungsoo.

“Where are you going?” Heechul demanded as Hyukjae stood up.

“I’m going to put a stop to this,” Hyukjae responded in a low voice that they rarely heard him use. But before he could do anything, Jungsoo and Jooyeon were already on their way upstairs to the second floor. He was about to follow them when Hankyung suddenly spoke up.

“I think I remember where I saw that guy, Jungsoo,” Hankyung stated, slurring his words a bit.

“Where?” Heechul humored him.

Hankyung turned to Kyuhyun then Kangin. “Remember that day when we saw Jooyeon walking out of school by herself and we saw her talking to some guy?” Kangin and Kyuhyun looked at each other, their foreheads scrunched, trying to remember. “And she was freaking out-.”

“I remember,” Kangin interrupted, realization coming to him. He exchanged a look with Kyuhyun, whose face paled. “We even ran after him.”

“But she’s…” Tiffany began, pointing at the stairs.

Taeyeon then arrived with Siwon, who looked very much concerned. Taeyeon glanced at all of them then at the dance floor. “Where’s Jooyeon?” she asked somewhat urgently.

“She went upstairs with Jungsoo,” Shindong told her.

“We have to go after them,” Siwon urged.

Jooyeon, her hand in Jungsoo’s, blindly allowed him to lead her upstairs. She was feeling too lightheaded to care. She just didn’t care where he was taking her. All she knew was that she was dizzy and she wanted that feeling to go away. Two shots of alcohol made her legs feel like jelly already. She didn’t think she’d stumbled so much before in her life.

After what felt like a long while of walking up the stairs, he ushered her into one of the empty rooms on the second floor. When she felt him laying her down on the bed, she smiled contentedly.

“This feels nice,” she mumbled, resting her cheek on the pillow, closing her eyes.

“I’ll make you feel even better,” he snickered, kneeling in front of her on the bed. He removed his coat, threw it on the floor and started unbuttoning his polo shirt.

Despite feeling faint, Jooyeon felt it when Jungsoo started lifting her dress up. Opening her eyes, she looked at him questioningly. “What are you doing?” she asked, trying to grab his hands and stop him.

“I want you, Jooyeon,” he whispered, placing himself on top of her, his breath on her face. She looked away. He touched her chin and made her look at him. “I want you,” he repeated, looking into her eyes.

All of a sudden, his intentions became comprehensible to her and her mind cleared. “You’ve had me,” she replied softly but firmly. “But you didn’t deserve me.” She slapped his hand away and tried to move away from him.

He grabbed her arm and pinned her down on the bed. Making her look at him again, he persisted, “Then allow me to make up for that. I want to deserve you, Jooyeon. I still love you. I’ve always loved you.”

She stared at him. She stared at the man who was the very reason why life was such for her. There was a time when she thought she was in love with him. He was the closest guy friend she’d ever had in her life. She trusted him with everything and felt secure as long as he was around. But because of what he did and the blame he had put on her, that feeling was put into a halt with the harsh realization of the life she then had to lead.

“Get off of me,” she heavily demanded, trying to push him off of her with all her might. But she was too weak, too intoxicated. She had no strength to push him off and run away from him.

“You’re not going anywhere,” he gruffly told her, grabbing both of her wrists and placing them above her head, pinned with one hand. His other hand busily started lifting her dress up once more. She struggled under him. “We’ll be quick, love,” he continued, leaning forward to kiss her.

As he kissed her, the door opened. Jungsoo immediately stopped and lifted his head to turn towards the door. Jooyeon opened her eyes desperately and raised her gaze towards the same direction.

Donghae stood there, frozen, his hand on the doorknob. He had come up to the second floor to look for a room where he could sleep his anger off. Couples having their fun occupied most of the rooms. But he never expected Jungsoo and Jooyeon to be one of them. His eyes moved to the discarded coat of Jungsoo to Jooyeon’s heels at the foot of the bed to them situated in an uncompromising position.

“Donghae oppa,” Jooyeon began to ask for help, but Jungsoo dipped his head towards her and kissed her rather passionately, making her whimper.

“I’m sorry,” was all Donghae could say, averting his gaze and moving to close the door.

Jooyeon managed to push Jungsoo’s face away from hers. “Donghae oppa!” she nearly screamed. But he had already closed the door.

At the sound of the door closing, she immediately stopped fighting him off. He smirked, thinking that she was finally giving in, and let her hands go. He then proceeded to adore her neck with his lips. She closed her eyes shut as she felt his lust and to keep the tears from coming out. Donghae’s face when he saw them… The look on his eyes when he looked at her… It was one of repulsion. It was as if it was something he was expecting from her all along and seeing her with Jungsoo confirmed all of what he knew.

A sob escaped from her lips. Jungsoo stopped and lifted himself up to get a good look at her. Tears were streaming down the sides of her face.

“We haven’t even gone to the good parts and you’re already crying,” he commented, smirking a bit. Leaning closer to her once more, he whispered in what he thought was a seductive tone, “Just pretend I’m Donghae.”

She opened her eyes at that and raised a hand to slap his face. He grabbed her hand tightly and growled, “Dammit! When did you become such a bitch?”

“Donghae oppa would never force himself on me,” she spat, her tone becoming hysterical. “He would never! He’s nothing like you. You are nothing like him.” She then moved her other hand to try to push him off of her. “Get off of me! Get off of me!” she screamed as loud as she could. “Get off,” she repeated, her strength lessening as she started to cry harder. “Please! Please. Jungsoo oppa… please.”

Jungsoo stilled at such a heart-wrenching request. He rested himself on his elbows, getting a good look at her. Jooyeon was crying like he’d never seen her cry before. She was clutching her chest, like her heart hurt. His expression softened, along with his heart. He couldn’t help but think about what he had done to her, about what he had done to her all those years ago, about what he was continuing to do to her.

“Jooyeon,” he spoke brokenly, wiping the tears from her cheeks, “Please stop crying.”

“Leave me alone,” she responded. He merely stayed in the same position, brushing her hair away from her face, sticky from the tears. “I said leave me alone! Don’t touch me!” she screeched beseechingly.

He immediately got off of the bed and stood up, running a hand through his already messy hair. She turned to her side and curled herself up in a ball as her tears turned into sobs. He took a step towards her to do something to calm her down when the door opened once more. He hadn’t even had a chance to react and turn when a fist connected with his jaw.

Donghae squeezed his eyes shut and buried his face in his hands. But, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t forget all the images that were swirling around in his head. He just couldn’t forget how Jungsoo kissed Jooyeon, how she was positioned under him, how things were progressing between them. He couldn’t grasp the fact that she was really with him. He couldn’t grasp the fact that she was with him in that way. He couldn’t help but wonder what happened to the Jooyeon that he knew. Where did she go?

His thoughts were put to a halt as he looked up at the sound of running feet. Siwon, Heechul, Kyuhyun and Hyukjae were running up the stairs, followed by Taeyeon, Shindong, Hankyung, Tiffany and Kangin. Donghae watched as the boys started opening doors, interrupting the activities of those inside the rooms.

“What are you guys doing?” Donghae wondered aloud. He looked at Taeyeon, who was standing at one side, looking frantic and desperate. Tiffany put an arm around her, seemingly trying to comfort her. “What’s going on?”

“Have you seen Jooyeon?” Kangin demanded from him, opening another door and poking his head in. He immediately closed it when screams not belonging to Jooyeon sounded.

Donghae smirked, which Kyuhyun noticed.

“Have you seen Jooyeon?” Kyuhyun repeated, walking up to Donghae, who had stood up.

“She’s in the room at the end of the hall,” Donghae shared, a smirk on his face. Siwon and Heechul, along with Hyukjae, immediately ran down the hallway. “Don’t rush in!” he called. “She’s having her fun with Jungsoo!”

Kyuhyun, who had turned to leave, faced him once more and landed his fist on Donghae’s face. Donghae was just about to open his mouth to retort when Kyuhyun beat him to it. “You’re a bastard,” he told him in a dangerously deep voice.

Donghae watched after him, stunned at the hit and at his words. Quietly, he followed the others to the room he had just walked away from. Through the doorway, he saw Taeyeon and Tiffany comforting Jooyeon, whom they had wrapped a blanket on, while Hyukjae had his fists clenched, seemingly having just hit Jungsoo on the face. Kangin and Hankyung were both restraining him. Siwon was on the phone. Heechul stepped out of the room and started to dial a couple of numbers on his phone before putting it to his ear.

“Hyung,” Donghae began, swallowing the unpleasant taste that was forming in his mouth. He had the strangest feeling that he had misunderstood a lot of things. “What… what happened?”

Heechul turned his icy glare on him, his mouth forming a grim line. “Jooyeon was nearly raped,” he announced in a low voice.

“Raped?” Donghae repeated hoarsely, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets. “But she… they…” He blinked rapidly.

Heechul put the phone down and stared at his dongsaeng. “I don’t know why you ever thought the way you did,” he began stiffly. He paused. “Jooyeon had been raped by Jungsoo in the past.” He looked into his eyes, as if instilling in him the meaning of his words. “Now do you understand? Has that been ingrained in that thick skull of yours?”

Donghae opened his mouth to say something, but found that there wasn’t really anything he could say. His eyes shifted towards the room, towards Jooyeon. It was at the moment that she opened her eyes and met his. They looked at each other for a moment, imploring eyes meeting aggrieved ones. He was about to take a step towards the room when she looked away. The act could have been conceived as one of no consequence, just a person naturally looking away. But for the both of them it meant more. It was a message for him to stay away from her.
