So. #1 pet peeve in fanfiction is officially the whole 'weary' vs 'wary' shtick because y'know, 70% of writers don't seem to understand the difference. I'd say 'definitely vs defiantly' is up there too, but I haven't stumbled across that particular fuck up in a while.

I usually find myself hit with whatever errors someone generally points out when it comes to writing but, I think I've never made just that one particular mistake. And only because I don't think I use any of those words x)

Yes to all of this, except I've never been able to figure out the difference between affect and effect. I've looked it up. A lot. And asked people. Also a lot. The explanation's never stuck.

affect is a verb; things and people are affected by actions and other things.

effect is a noun; the results of something happening.

AND THEN YOU GET FUN SENTENCES LIKE 'BOB WAS AFFECTED BY THE EFFECTS OF THE CURSE.'

I am made out of such utter fail. I was trying to use affected in a sentence at work today and spaced on this. Knew I'd forget, but I didn't figure on it being so soon.
