Can it get any worse?

Annette was released from the hospital last night -- she was admitted late Tuesday night with what ended up being a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in her lung) -- probably resulted from going through labor. oh, how scary... I'm glad Annette is ok & that they caught the clot. You mentioned about hearing how much this has happened to others - my mom told me not too long ago that Grammie lost a baby who was stillborn, and that she (my mom) miscarried two babies at about 5 months (one before me and one after Cheryl). scary.

It's just so awful to lose a baby -- to lose that promise of a new life, and all the dreams you have for that child. I read yesterday that 1 in 5 pregnancies are lost, either through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, or stillbirth. (This book was published in 1982 and updated in 1996, so I wonder what the current statistics are). It's sobering, and so scary.

I guess you just have to rely on faith, and the belief that there has to be a reason for everything, even if the reason's completely incomprehensible to us here and now.
