So I get that shows have love triangles because it heightens the drama and gives fans a chosen couple to cheer over and favor. I love this show. I think it's brilliant. And I can't understand the negativity towards it. As for Heroes, that fell apart after one season. TVD is still going strong and kicking ass four seasons later.

I think it's that (which was part of my problem last season) and one other thing which I came to terms with over the summer hiatus. TVD is not a one episode, one arc, one-batch, one season journey kind of storytelling. Based on everything we've seen and things that KW and JP have said, this show is a SIX-season arc. So until the show is over, I'm holding off complaints.
For example, people groused that they just dropped Stefan/Rebekah. No, they didn't, they just waited to played it until it made sense to do so. Rebekah flat-out said in 3.06 that she was putting him on the backburner until he treated her better, and that's exactly what happened. Katherine/Elijah, again, not dropped, simply saved for when it would work best. The Stefan-Ripper arc has NOT been dropped (despite people constantly saying that). It's so very obvious that it is a huge part of Stefan's journey and we are still seeing it work out with two seasons left to go.
I got all the first 2 1/ ( ... )
