"your moon, my moon. as long as we’re able to see the same moon at night, we’re closer than we think we are."

Your Moon; My Moon
“Your moon, my moon. As long as we’re able to see the same moon at night, we’re closer than we think we are.”

“No matter how far we really are from each other?”

“A hundred miles… a thousand miles… a hundred thousand miles, you name it. One thing for sure; as long as we’re able to see the same moon, that means we’re close to each other. Because that is your moon, my moon -our moon.”

“Promise?”

“Promise.”

You feel the corner of your mouth rises up; creating a smile that he said made him fell for you. A sweet, faint smile, as you hear him mutters his promise.

“But how can you tell we’re seeing the same moon?”

You hear him chuckling. Oh, how you want to see that expression on his small face! You try to imagine how he would look like at the other end of the line; eyes barely open, lips bent up a little bit higher than usual when he smile, his neat white teeth peeking from those plump red lips…

You miss him so much.

“Well, you’re seeing the moon right now, right boo?” you give an ‘hmm’ as your reply, “How does it look like?”

You narrow your eyes, trying to find the right word to describe it.

“Round? Eh, I mean, full moon?”

“Yes, mine too… and what else?”

“Umm…” you tilt your head, “shining white… and it got small spots…”

“Small spots? Can you be any cuter, Jaejoongie? Yes, it got small spots! Hahaha -Bzz… Bzz… Jaejoongie? Bzz… Jaejoongie? I think I’m losing -bzz… -signal. I’ll call you so-“

-Peep.

A sigh escapes your lips as you drop your cell phone beside you. You have an urge to call him back right now, but you guess you’ll just have to wait. He might still be lacking signal and after all he has promised to call you back.

So you just throw your body back, laying your back flat on the bed. Yes, the bed is so soft and comfy, softer than the one at home, but it feels empty.

‘Just another day, Jae…’ you whisper to yourself. It’s not like you could blame anyone after all. This is your decision to pursue your acting career, and being in Jeju all alone without anyone is just one of many obstacles that has yet to come your way.

You know that for sure, but at times like this, especially when you got off work earlier, have nothing else to do, yet too awake to even try to sleep, you’ll miss home.

Home; where your children would knock upon your bedroom door as they nag you to cook something for them. Where Changmin would grunt because he found the fridge empty (because of himself, no doubt), where Junsu would beg you to accompany him to play yet another round of soccer with his PS3, where Yoochun would suddenly go mellow and end up making your shoulder a place to cry on as he murmur how he misses his family.

Where he would whine while making his way to you, asking if he could stay in your room -no, in your embrace, and let the time fly with sweet talks until you both fall asleep on each other’s shoulder.

Or simply just make love until the two of you are tired and drift into oblivion inside each other’s arms.

Oh, how thinking of those all makes you feel lonelier!

You glance at the window on your right, where the moon you just described shining bright.

Seeing the same moon…

But how if one day the moon looks different to the moon he sees? If one day the cloud decides to cover your moon, hide it from your eyes, making you unable to see it clearly unlike he does?

How if one day your moon decides to show only a part of him while his moon is fully round? How if the moon is not the two of yours moon anymore?

Just like before…

When you ran from him and he ran from you. When both of your skies went dark, so dark that not even a single star shine. When you can’t even see any glimpse of your moon nor his.

“Maybe it’s because our moon isn’t ours anymore… your moon is not mine and mine is not yours… that’s why we are not able to see each others.”

“But maybe we just didn’t look hard enough…” his soothing plea waved to your ear, “if only we look deeper, far deeper beyond the floating clouds of doubts and more that hid our moon for all these time, I’m sure we’ll find it…”

You bit your lower lip, torn between the desire to forgive, except, and run back to him and the fear of what might happen if you just let it go. If even after you look harder you would not find it. If after you found that his moon is not yours anymore… and yours is not his…”

“Do you think so…?” your voice was just barely a whisper.

“I don’t think so, I know so…”

“…Jaejoong-ya…? Mianhae…”

And you smile as you remember how the moon suddenly appeared afterwards.

“Yunho… Yunho… Yunho…” you breathe his name as your hand reaches to your side, taking the pillow and put it inside your arms.

That reminds you, he hasn’t called you back. You grab your cell phone and pouts after seeing there is neither missed call nor text message. Did he forget or something? You hope nothing bad is happening to him.

You press number three in your cell phone and wait as it dials his number. The first beep… the second beep…

“Room service!”

“Huh?” you cancel your call and stand up before walking to the door lazily. Room service? You don’t remember ordering anything. Maybe they got the wrong room number? You turn the lock; open the door, and gasps.

“Room service?” he tilts his head as he tries to hold his big grin into a smirk. You can’t speak, too shocked that you even find yourself hard to breathe.

“This is Kim Jaejoong-sshi’s room, right?” He steps backwards; pretending to check on your room’s number, “I believe you’ve ordered one Jung Yunho earlier, so I’m here to send you your present!” he opens his arms widely, asking for a hug.

You can only blink.

“Jaejoongie? Your gift might get cold if you keep him outside anymore longer than this…” he moves his arms up and down cutely. Making you snap back and hit his arms in a joking manner.

“Pabo!” you say as you take one step closer to him and wrap your arms around his taller figure, bringing him to your embrace, hugging his warm body and smelling his oh-so-much-missed scent. He put his own arms around you and tightens the hug. “I miss you so much!”

“Well, I’m here now, right?” he begins to stroke your back, “Because I just can’t wait for another day without you. I don’t care if you’ll be home tomorrow, I want you now so here I am…” he bends his head to yours, and you relax your head in his shoulder.

“And I thought you’re the one who started with the whole moon ideas…”

You lay on him as he lay on your bed, arms locking you to his body while you just lay your head on his chest, hearing his heart beats rhythmically; music in your ears.

“I miss you… I really do…” you mutter against his skin. You feel his hand finding its way to your upper back before start stroking it gently.

“I’m here now, right…?”

You pout, “Yeah… but I still do… you know I can’t get enough of you…”

“So you’re saying you want another round?” he laughs and you could feel his heart beat faster. You just shake your head and turn your head to another side, eyeing the window where the same moon still shines. He probably noticed what you’re seeing because suddenly he says,

“See? Our moon shines brighter when we’re together…”

You smile at his words, “yeah… you’re right…”

Because it's your moon, my moon... our moon.
