Character Age: Around 16 or 17, I'm guessing.

Background: Wikipedia article
Personality:

Hitagi Senjougahara. Her last name is a place that refers to a mythical battlefield, her given name an engineering term. A peculiar name for a girl just as peculiar. On the surface, she is perfect. She is breathtakingly beautiful, she is the only daughter of a rich and powerful CEO, and she gets good grades, even earning a recommendation for university from her teachers. Back in middle school, she was an admired and respected senior and the track club's ace, forming the "Baruhara Combi" with her junior, Suruga Kanbaru, the basketball club's ace, who also admires her. Stories of her once cheerful disposition and impeccable track and field record are nothing but memories now ― the Hitagi we see at present is unsociable, disagreeable and hostile. Up until recently, she was rumored to have an incurable disease. In reality, before the first year of high school, an oddity occurred ― she lost her weight.

Prior to getting her weight or feelings back from the crab god that took them, Hitagi pushed everyone away and threatened anyone who dared discover her secret. Because she was strange, she ostracized herself from everyone. She tends to be verbally abusive in order to keep it under wraps and even until now, this impertinent aspect of her personality still persists. Being well-versed in anime and manga culture, she describes her personality as "tsundere" (although Araragi comments that she is more like "tsundra") and this is reinforced by Oshino's nickname for her, Tsundere-chan. Coming from a wealthy family, she is fastidious, preferring to live the way rich people do. She says things like, "My ass hurts and my skirt is ruffled," after riding a bicycle, or on getting a towel to cover up her body, "No, that's what poor people do," throughout the series.

She comes off as cold, strict and aloof on the outside, but Hitagi is not entirely ruthless as everyone else says. In fact, she can be considerate. In the Mayoi Snail arc, she pretended to see the ghost Araragi was helping. As she was an oddity herself back then, she knew what it was like to feel strange and to protect him from that feeling, she acted as if the ghost was there. Concerned, she went to tell Oshino about Araragi's situation.

Perceptive, perhaps too perceptive. People might be surprised as to how much information she instantly knows about them. This might be why she is easily jealous, but it can be attributed more to her seriousness in her relationships. She cannot trust people right off the bat and think as optimistically as others do; however, when she finds trust in those whom she loves, she gives them her all and rewards them when rewards are due, no matter how odd, especially when she feels indebted to them.

Speaking of relationships, it appears that she is intrigued by kind types such as Araragi, who will not just save her, but will save anyone, regardless of who they are. In episode 5, she tells him that even if she saw him save Hanekawa instead of her, she would have fallen in love with him all the same. When it comes to the one she loves, she teasing him and fascinating him in order to get him to confess. She does not intend to break up with him and states that she will kill him if it means having him until the very end.

Hitagi does not wish to return to the way she was before, refusing to go back to the track team even after she regains her weight. She is accepting change and moving on, as she did with her mother, although it can not be said that it was always easy for her to let go. After all, it was she who asked a crab to take her weight, her emotions, her burden, ― in other words, her mother away. In addition to Hitagi's traumatic experience involving sexual assault by a member of an evil cult her mother was a part of, Hitagi's mother giving all their fortunes to an evil cult in order to pay for her penalty led to the divorce of her parents. Hitagi thought that if she had submitted to the evil cult and avoided killing the one who attempted to rape her, she would not have a broken family. Thus, by letting the crab take away her burden, she escaped from her troubles. If given a choice, Hitagi would prefer the easy way out.

Abilities:

None; only a knack for biting people with her words and stapling the inside of their mouths. She may be a weak-looking girl, but she has nimble hands and feet; the questions of why or how are never elaborated upon. Her speed can be explained by her track and field experience. In the series, she puts a box cutter in Araragi's mouth as soon as he turns around to face her and, in another episode, holds a pen mere millimeters away from poking his eye before he can even react, displaying her precision and quick reflexes. She is also able to carry an extraordinary number of school materials on her person without a bag for some reason.

Sample Entry:

[ This is the situation: drone father checks on newly arrived daughter, confused daughter assaults father. There is a little scuffle before the phone picks up. One can hear heavy breathing, but not on the daughter's part ― she is as calm as ever. Hitagi, the daughter, is mounted on top of him, pressing the handle of her telephone's handset into his mouth. In her other hand, she is holding a letter opener to the neck of the man lying on her bed, ready to draw blood when necessary. ]

Kidnapping for ransom is a coward's crime. It must be clear to you that I do not want to be part of this. Being the victim of an invertebrate is the worst. [ She pauses on that. ] You're smart enough to know that my father is a powerful man. Yet, there isn't enough brain in that skull of yours to think of a proper way to exploit that information, is there? [ Pushes the handset in more. ] Is this truly how low you will go for money? Pathetic. On that note, I should tell you that I have five thousand grunts. They are at my beck and call at all times; name a place and they will be there in ten seconds flat. I may be exaggerating, but know that they are fully capable of mutilating you beyond recognition.

Hm. I do not feel the need to apologize for making you fully aware of your worthlessness. Now, a worm like you should find it easy enough to answer my questions and follow my instructions. If you wish to cooperate, nod twice. All other courses of action will be taken as a no. Should that happen―[ She presses the blade further in, just enough for it not to leave a cut. ]

This might get messy.
