Aw sweetie, spiders are good to have around. They eat the bad bugs. I personally run a capture and release program in my residence. The other night, I woke Mark up at 2 in the morning to help me capture one I saw climb in to a pile of my clothes and we let it go outside. But I understand the creep factor. :)
Yeah, I know they're good to have around, not that bad, wouldn't really hurt me... Problem is, it's an actual phobia. Irrational fear to the core.
And my parents do the catch and release thing. They even have a "bug jar" we keep in the kitchen cupboard. Bugs are fine; the spiders, I tend to either break down in tears once I get within 3 feet of it, smash it with the jar trying to get it over the thing, throw the entire contraption across the room and running away if it moves even once in the jar, or some mixture or variation of those. So, yeah. Bug Jar for spiders no work for the Chelsea.
But hey, with the sheer number of spiders around the place, we won't be having an ant infestation any time soon *knocks on wood*. Gotta look on the bright side ^_^
Nah, I get the phobia too. Mine is ants, but it's gotten better lately. Necessity I guess. I also shudder at the idea of beig stabbed in the hand or foot. Funny what scares us, huh?
