In pain...

A wisdom tooth decided to spring out of my gum last weekend, and I've been in tremendous pain (along with having minor cold symptoms) for a week. I was told that usually wisdom teeth come out at the age of ~15, and they likely won't ever grow out if you survive that age range. Well, that's a lie! :( (Or I'm just extremely immature...) All four of mine grew out. It hurt a bit while teething. I'd also had a flap of gum over the tooth and it was trapping food underneath it and irritating my gums, but the dentist gave me a toothbrush (the GUM brand, with that pointy thingy) and told me to poke at my gum with the pointy part and it made my gums much happier. And then the flap of gum disappeared because of it not being used. I don't remember how long it took for the tooth to pop in.

I got one of my wisdom teeth pulled out. There was a huge cavity in it. There's another one that I might get pulled out sometime soon. They sort of don't point down in my mouth, and sort of point out towards my gums. But mine had enough space to grow in.

Ooh, I have some piece of gum over the tooth too (since it's not completely grown yet)! Yeah, I'm worried about cleaning it too... can only brush lightly but it still hurts. Maybe I'll consider the toothbrush you mentioned....

Yeah, the dentist basically said that I should "massage" the gums with the rubber pointy part of the toothbrush. If I remember correctly, the pointy part was also supposed to get the trapped food out from under the flap so then that area wouldn't hurt as much. The flap will disappear ( ... )
