Oh goody. The landlord stopped by and flipped his shit at me because I left some of the rooms still a little messy (just a couple piles of garbage, nothing an hour or three won't clear out), I left a room or two messy, sure, but not anywhere near the amount of vitriol he spewed at me for a good 15 minutes. Bitched at me threatening small claims ( Read more... )

When you're leaving, TAKE PICTURES of everything in case the fucker DOES take you to small claims court. He won't win about the toilet (You've lived there for HOW long? the judge will say). But he may try to claim other things against you, again, cite how long you've been there/etc and it should get thrown out so long as it can be shown to be normal wear and tear.

The way he was slightly gloating, I think he has "friends in high places". Plus, I have neither money to get nor a camera. My brother has a cell we might be able to use, but the landlord wouldn't go into this without several advantages, it's just the way he works.

I'm just going to clean what I can. If he makes me eat costs... I can "afford" it (technically, unless he goes apeshit and demands another month's rent), but it would be painful and I had that money spent already in my head on stuff for the new apartment...

Time's up at the library, I'm offline as of... now. *shrug*

I don't care to see an abusive landlord fuck over people, i put up with that in far too many places for far too long. protect yourself and don't pay a fucking thing. unless he can show negligence and/or malice he has NOTHING on you, i dont' care WHO his friends are. you've got friends too yaknow and I didn't spend 10 years swimming in legalese for nothing.

That is a shame that such a good relationship with a landlord went down the crapper like that. And technically, he would not really have much ground to sue over.

*hops back on a library computer* True, but he's spiteful as all hell, just as bad as me or my brother. He'd go through with it just to make a hassle. It doesn't matter if he wins or loses just as long as it's an inconvience. He doesn't have much to lose.
