Error 1720: Smart Hard Drive detects imminent failure

Luckily it's my work laptop. It's going to be a long long day I think.

You should get that replaced as soon as you can (to be safe), but my boss's work machine had that error for a year without a catastrophe. My work machine's HDD failed silently.

That is not a Smart Hard Drive.

It is a STUPID Hard Drive.

It is a stupid hard drive, but the SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) system is pretty cool stuff. It definitely beats losing a drive without any notice.
