Yeah, I think in their native environment, they would crawl into cracks in rock cliffs that face South and hibernate there.
Our house isn't very light colored, but it has a nice big south-facing wall and lots and lots of cracks along door & window frames.
I don't mind them in principle, but the numbers are pretty wacky. Time for laundry? Step one: shake bugs out of clothes. Step 2: nudge bugs away from washer door gasket... There's a pull-chain light over the sink. I end up sending a few beetles flying every time i turn it on...

Now about those lady bugs. Come to find out, they're not lady bugs after all, but Asian Lady Beatles.
- They came from the deep south were they were introduced in the late 80s and early 90s.
- They swarm on warm autumn days by the hundreds and thousands.
- They're attracted to light colored houses, and burrow into your home via cracks and crevices around windows, doors and foundations.
- They're non-toxic and mostly harmless (a few CAN bite).
- Vacuum, sweep, or just leave alone. Most will hunker down by the time the cold hits. In the spring they'll find their way out the way they came in.
Cheers,
