I am Jack's total lack of surprise

So it turns out that Sriduangkaew's apologies were utterly insincere and she's now back to her ways of bullying and harassing people again. It's enough to make a guy wonder if he should reconsider his stance over the 'Best Fanwriter' category of this year's Hugo awards ( Read more... )

After Mixon's recent posts where she announces that a vote for her is an affirmation of a community standard of basic decency (with the unspoken if you don't vote for me then you are against this) and her recent rebuttal to posts which express concerns about her takedown of RH, I'm more convinced then ever that I don't want to vote for her.

That one I haven't seen, and if that's accurate then it's hugely offputting as it crosses the line into actively campaigning for an award, which being British, I find distasteful.

On the other hand, Sriduangakew is positioning herself to claim a lack of a vote for Mixon as an endorsement and exoneration of herself. A position that is equally as repellent.

I was talking about this post which states:

A vote for me sends a clear signal that the community stands firm on this basic principle: that our politics can’t outweigh our humanity. That everyone has a fundamental right to be here, to engage in online and in-person discourse without being threatened with annihilation. We have to find a way-not to deny our own beliefs and experiences-but to talk across the divides.

BS is clearly self serving with her arguments - I don't think anyone is buying it (including BS). I think Mixon has drunken her own koolaid.

A vote for me sends a clear signal…

Yargh! Thank you for linking to that. I think. Reading it caused me actual, physical pain. My brief wavering is settled, there's no way I could possibly vote for that. No award it is.
