Let's face it: I got into college, my band won, I am going to Italy next month and underneath all of this high school classes are like black ice on the ( Read more... )

heh, i wonder how many seniors who previously at least tried have decided to just fuck it all 2nd term, and not do anything. or, more accurately, how many will actually go ahead and ..flee.

the existentialists say that you are afraid of freedom, which you need to face if you'll ever be "honestly" happy. but reasonably fearing the safety of structure is just as possible. i'd say that it's just the prospect of a totally new environment that scares people by default.

(obviously this is all generalized speculation as i don't know your specific dilemma. but kudos, dude)

At my high school there is a program called "senior option" in which seniors can spend their last quarter of high school interning at a business of their choice or doing some kind of project. However, since I have completed all the requirements to graduate I am eligible to start senior option early, and thus I have the possibility of 4 months of virtual freedom.

In this case I am not afraid of the new enviornment so much as the loss of the whole senior year in high school experience.

On a different note: Did Northwestern call and tell you that they were going to send you a t-shirt? They did that to me almost a month ago and I still haven't gotten my new t-shirt. This is seriously making me go crazy everytime I check the mail.

senior option sounds cool; i've never heard of anything like it. unfortunately, at my school, "reqs to graduate" include a bunch of second-term classes.

and no, no one ever notified me about a t-shirt! psssh.
