(1) Attorney General Gonzales's position, explained:
"I take the responsibility for what happened...but not the blame. Responsible people get to keep their jobs."

we may be gratefully rid of one of the worst attorneys general in U.S. history, shortly.
Still quite possible, particularly if the insider leaks continue (since the Dems seem to have fallen for the "Ohhh, the country can't stand the trauuuuma" argument against their doing their jobs by impeaching and removing the lying little weasel)...but he has explained that he won't resign. Instead, he "regrets" that his sworn testimony "may not have been fully accurate" (translation: is sorry to have been caught giving testimony he knew perfectly well to be false, thereby committing a federal crime; details available on request for those not keeping up with the story).
It's like having O.J. Simpson in every office of the executive branch. "I'll spend the rest of my life looking for the real killers. (SUCK-ERRRRRRS!) Now watch this drive."

*gasp* lying under oath???? wha????
surely this is nowhere near as outrageous a breach of the public's trust than someone having oral sex in the oval office.
< /sarcasm >
it's easy to spin adulterous sex. it's not so easy to explain what's happening in the current administration (although you do an excellent job!). the general public's heads would hurt before it could understand.
thanks for the post(s).

LOL re Oval Office escapades (though remember that America forgave 'em! -- even Southern males who hated Clinton didn't want him fired for philandering (wonder why? ;) )).

I take your point, particularly when (a) it's so unbelievably pervasive in nearly everything they do, and (b) some folks continue to be fooled by the air of morality these folks try to project -- especially Gonzo. Come to think, though, I'm not sure this one is all that complicated. The usually awful Kate O'Beirne (of all people!) put it really well (I'm paraphrasing, but it's close):
You can replace a U.S. Attorney for any good reason, or even for no reason. What you can't do is replace them for a BAD reason -- like to politicize a prosecution. She went on to say she didn't think that had been proven -- "yet" -- but noted a serious erosion of support for Gonzo among Republicans. Good for them ( ... )

Aren't you kind to say so. I'm glad you enjoy (and that somebody reads this stuff, come to that) -- busy or no, I'll try to do more.
Great to see you here! :D
