This is the first "Scooter" Libby post that I have read that actually takes what has occurred seriously. The media seems to be downplaying it and it refreshing to read a comment about it that brings the seriousness of Bush's actions to every one's attention.
Thanks for posting and I hope that you enjoy the holiday.
You're not kidding, they're playing it down -- completely misrepresenting the entire matter, in fact. I keep trying to decide whether or not to do another of those "primer" series, to explain what's up with this.
I'll tell you one thing: nobody's discussing it, but the insta-pardon (okay, commutation) came as a very serious shock to at least some Bush supporters, particularly among the national security types. It's one thing for the President to seem "strangely sluggish" in his pursuit of those who blew not only a clandestine officer's cover, but blew a large hole in efforts to keep Iran from getting the bomb; quite another thing to act instantaneously to make certain the perpetrators can't be apprehended and punished. Such an action may not surprise everyone, but it's a very large surprise to some who actually believed the President's assurances that he wanted to get to the bottom of this, etc.
Anyway, hope your Fourth was the best, sir. Thanks for speaking up! :D
