Whose job is it?

OR who educates on matters of fact. There is a poll on FoxNews this morning, asking whether folks believe Saddam was involved in 9/11. 55% said "yes". That is frightening. We really do live in a nation of complete friggin' morons, and the Republican Misinformation Machine is optimized in its ability to manipulate them.

I hope Kerry does not lay a turd in the debate tonight. This a real opportunity, but I fear that he will just screw it up.

For Kerry, the stakes are very high and we can depend on FOX and friends to spin it to the g-dub's advantage no matter what. I hope the Kerry handlers tell him to go out swinging. I suspect it's our only hope that the debates will have any impact. (I can't help thinking of the bush/gore debates and how gore was trying to focus on issues and not so much on making the shrub look like the piece of work that he is. I would hate to see that repeated!)

Yeah - matters of fact. Hmm - I was just on the CNN site - did you know that Beyonce tearing a ligament is one of the top news stories right now? Oh - and a guy falling down an elevator shaft and dying at World Trade Center Bldg 7 YESTERDAY is top news today? Ummm - isn't there a WAR going on? Don't we have elections coming up? Argh!

We quit watching the news a long time ago because it is so messed up. I mean the leading story in Atlanta last night or the night before was something about a car accident. Atlanta is a city with over 3 million people, it is a major business center, the state is experiencing unbelievable budget cutbacks that are impacting a number of public services, and the nation is at war and the best the ATL station that was on as we were shutting off the TV for the night was a car accident. Not even a multi-car amazing one - just a regular, boring car crash. Come on - is a car crash really the most important thing they could come up with to talk about REALLY???

They make me nuts. Thank god for the Inet and my overly-compulsive husband's blog that leads me to some of the most important stuff going on in the news.
